JERUSALEM (Reuters) - An Israeli aircraft hit a site belonging to Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip on Sunday in response to a rocket that militants fired from the territory into southern Israel, the Israeli military said. The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine said the air strike hit a training base belonging to the group in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip but nobody was hurt. No militant group had initially taken responsibility for launching the rocket. It landed in an open field and did not cause damage or injuries, an Israeli military spokeswoman said.
Reuters
Interesting I wasn't aware the DFLP even had a presence in the Gaza Strip, let alone a training base there.
Yet there still was the intent (and hope) of harming civilians when it was fired
when someone tries to kill someone else, they get charged with attempted murder, not murder
when someone tries to kill someone else, they get charged with attempted murder, not murder
if they're a citizen, or in, the country the offense took place- then yes. But what happens when the offense crosses national borders? Its not like a warrant for arrest would do much (even if they had specifics on who)
when someone tries to kill someone else, they get charged with attempted murder, not murder
Except this is you know, a retaliation strike for a missile fired into Israel.
what the fuck? [editline]28th April 2013[/editline] do you even know the difference between militants and civilians
I'm convinced a majority of people on Facepunch don't know the difference.
what the fuck? [editline]28th April 2013[/editline] do you even know the difference between militants and civilians
... So when the militants fired the rocket into Israel they were targeting the open field? Edit: I think you missed my point - what I was saying was the the militants in Gaza fired the rocket at civilian population and regardless of where it landed it is still a serious issue.
Except this is you know, a retaliation strike for a missile fired into Israel. I'm convinced a majority of people on Facepunch don't know the difference.
sure, if a missile is a rocket that harmed no one and didn't even cause any damage
sure, if a missile is a rocket that harmed no one and didn't even cause any damage
Would you prefer the IDF occupy Gaza yet again?
Would you prefer the IDF occupy Gaza yet again?
i'd prefer the IDF be disbanded, but hey that's a whole other story but if you think blowing up an entire area in response to a rocket hitting an open field is some sort of justified response then there is something wrong with your brain

Though that country can definitely tone down their aggression, it shouldn't be left completely defenseless. And I think blowing up an entire area in response to a rocket is a helluva lot better than the IDF sending in several thousand troops and tanks and occupying the area, resulting in thousands of Palestinian deaths.
why should they do either?
If both sides agreed to peace israel would invade lebanon again

What is all the fuss about? Destroying a base responsible for launching rockets at another nation seems perfectly reasonable, just because the rocket didn't hit someone doesn't mean they should be ignored. Unless you expect Israel to send special forces into Gaza to arrest those "attempted murderers" alive every time they launch a rocket which would be impractical and result in more mess than a single guided missile/bomb.
