Phones are an easy sample of how away from reality we could be on the generations to come
i think at least 2 of those are no longer needed
My friends and I have a rule for phones. No (excessive) use of phones when we are together.
I've refrained from smartphones for the longest time for this reason. I rarely use it outside of my own house, which kind of defeats the purpose I guess. In fact my closest friends have shitty phones so I'm able to talk to them more.
I don't really have this problem with people. If I'm using my phone around when I'm with someone else, it because there's nothing going on or to talk about. I would choose face to face interaction over dicking around with my phone any time.
I'm incedably guilty of just staying up and looking at articles or "Window shopping" instead of sleeping.
It's reason like this that I'm glad I only own a pay as you go tracfone that's only capable of basic texting and calling.

When I went to Japan, I was able to go to a Geisha theater. Like the real deal these people spending their whole lives doing this keeping the tradition alive this is not a hobby deal. They specifically ask everyone in the crowd no flash photography because it distracts them. So naturally, 80% of the crowd being fresh off a tour bus whip out all their phones taking loud ass flashes and the works. These people had no desire to expand their culture or get a glimpse at old history, they just wanted to take pics so they could brag to their friends how they went to a place that was so "weird". I mean for fucks sake put the thing down for 20 minutes and see something with your own eyes. I can't stand people who even consider that "traveling". Get off the bus, take some pictures of a statue, get back on the bus. I mean how is that living.
I've never had a cellphone, come at me you fuks.
When i am out and eating whit friends we all put our phones face down on the table. The first one that flips his/hers over to anything other to answear a call must pay for the food for everyone. If no one does it we pay for our own.
I've never had a cellphone, come at me you fuks.
My dad didn't have one either. Some years ago, he was supposed to pick me up after my entry exams at the university. Apparently some misunderstanding took place about where to pick me up and it took us fucking 2 hours to find each other. He bought a cellphone after that.

It's not cellphones so much as small portable cameras that started it, but it just annoys me so much. Why do people want to break the flow of whatever they're doing to get a picture of something or themselves every twenty minutes? Aren't the memories good enough? Maybe I'm just bitter because I hate posing for group photos. The only time I ever feel like taking pictures is when I see something out of the ordinary or need to remember a specific set of instructions. I realized sometime during my junior year of highschool that my phone was full of pictures of homework assignments and weird bugs.
Is it just me or is this massively exaggerated? Nobody I know is enough of a penis to break the atmosphere and the 'flow' of a social situation to pose for a selfie or something. Also I have never been in a situation where everyone is on their phones like that. The phone starer is usually that one guy not having much fun, not fucking everyone

Any time I'm going to see anything interesting that might be worth taking a picture of, it's not worth ruining the moment. I've always said I'd rather not live life through a camera lens when it's right in front of me.
Cool being poor, eh?
lol, better than being a dick that's for sure.
During the rare times I get to go out and do things I keep my phone in my pocket. I can't even fathom being enough of a dick to start playing angry birds and tweeting when bowling with friends. And why would you record your birthday? No one gives a shit but you and the people that are already present to witness it firsthand. Do people actually do this kind of stuff or is this just an extreme exaggeration?
I personally am happy smart phones exist. Being able to search things on the internet on the go is great.

Whenever I go out to eat with huge groups of friends it always looks exactly like the video. Just like c: said, the moment people aren't engaged, the phone comes out. I can admit to being guilty of it myself. When I become conscious of it and put my phone away on purpose, situations like that video happen where you suddenly realize that everyone at the table is staring into their phones.

Now for many tourists, they only take pictures just to brag about it, for me I take pictures that show what I thought was beautiful about the place and many other things that I found interesting. I only take pictures when I need to as well though, and that's only when something catches my eye.

Even if I'm bored I will usually not bring out my phone, it means that you will look even less engaging to other people and thus you will become more bored. If I just got a text I'll usually give it a sneaky look but never reply.
Also, I don't own a smart phone, but I do have a tablet I do bring with me all the time, but only for reading books and watching movies every now and then, and school as well. I find that a tablet is a good way to have those things a smart phone does, but it's not as distracting for some odd reason.
Yea, I don't hae a smart phone but I hate that this happens. I remember when the majority of people I knew started getting phones that had practical texting abilities, y'know keypads where you didn't need to pound the same button three times to get to the letter C and repeat a million times. Even then people would rather sit and text than interact, and it pissed me off to no end tat someone would break eye contact or drop out of a conversation to read and reply to a text. How fucking rude. And now it's just a normal thing, everyone does it. I got a cellphone late and I still have a dumb phone, but I don't need a computer in my pocket. I understand that it's a luxury and a convenience, but people are living their lives behind these things. I don't get it.
