I started to take an interest in Korean films lately. They are amazing. I had no idea. The stories are always so very interesting, some of them have the best twists. The action is always just the right amount or more than I even expected which is great. The dialogue is very well written, I love the little lines they use that mean a whole lot for the film. Also, I like to note that instead of seeing a character being killed off and you always expect that chance of them coming back and they do, they don't in this. When they die they stay dead and I enjoy it because it adds emotion to the story and characters. [Movies worth watching] The Man from Nowhere - This movie is in my top 3 of Korean films I have seen. A pawn shopper finds out a little girl who would come in had been kidnapped and her mother killed. So he uses his secret service skills he retired from to track them down, and when he finds them, it's brutal great revenge. The Good, The Bad, and The Weird - This one again is in my top 3. Each character is very unique and completely follow their title of who they are in the movie. They all come across a map that the government held that no one knoew what it lead to. The Bad tracks it down because he of course wants to be rich, The Weird also wants whatever it is to start a business, and The Good just wants to return it and be his noble self. The action was very well, I rewinded the movie just to see a whole action scene again because it was so great. I Saw The Devil - This one is insane and when I say insane the story is a good one with crazy action, a sadistic serial killer murders a mans fiance and instead of just ending the serial killer he injects a tracking device inside the man to play a little revengeful game only he goes to far keeping him alive. An awesome scene is where he gets so pissed at an informant of the serial killers location, he rips open the mouth of the guy he was questioning. Chaser - I just finished this movie and it was another great film. A former detective has his own escort company and when his girls start going missing he chases down after the man who had been actually killing all his girls. A lot of the story is finding how they can connect the killer with the victims, not a whole lot of action until the end but it was a great build up to the story.
I most recently watched The Man from Nowhere and enjoyed, but still need to see the other 3 on that list since I've heard good things about them. I have Thirst and Shiri queued up to see. I've seen Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, and JSA by Park Chan Wook and I recommend those as well.
Oldboy is good. Highly recommend it.
I just started Oldboy tonight, it is fairly interesting. Heard there is a fucked up twist that I'm excited to see.
Hello Ghost. Super sad story and an amazing twist in the end, you guys should watch it. Mean Street or AKA Dirty Carnival: About a young man working for a business man willing to kill his own Partners to reach the very top. Also, has a good twist.
