[sp]I've got goosebumps when I heard the theme song[/sp] but other than that... eh... looks like 1:1 copy of the original animated movie.
Why all these dumb, unecessary, overproduced and shallow love action Disney remakes recently?

Money
you're in the wrong movie Hermione

I don't care what anyone says, the live action version of Cinderella was magical
Is there any other reason Emma is still in this industry
what's with all the fucking cynicism lately

Your Gaston is unimpressive, Disney

She's an actress that gets paid to play roles in movies.
She's an actress that gets paid to play roles in movies.
No shit.
Her acting is alright at best, but they could had picked someone else instead of her.
On a positive note the be our guest part looks like it might be fun, other than that it's not looking to good.
what's with all the fucking cynicism lately
i don't disagree with it though
let's face it, while live-action remakes offer a lot of opportunities for new and exciting or, at the very least clever takes on old visuals, stories and characters, they're still comparatively low-effort and guaranteed to bank on nostalgia and brand recognition. the need to pander leaves less room for creativity, imo
wow that trailer just gave away the whole plot didn't it
Looks more like Robbie Rotten than Gaston.
If you wanna get the girl number one. You have to kill a beast on the run.
wow that trailer just gave away the whole plot didn't it
Implying you didn't already know the plot of Beauty and the Beast
disney is really lacking original ideas lately
The fuck are you getting that from ? Since 2010 we've had Tangled, Wreck-It-Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, Moana, The BFG, and from Pixar we got Brave and Inside Out (among some sequels and less good movies).
All of which were recognized for being somewhat unique, original or at least refreshing in their own rights.
Disney's large enough as a company to greenlight reboots/sequels and original projects.
This looks like loads of fun, the hell are you guys so critical about this :v:
Ah so lovely to see the magic of frame by frame hand-drawn animation be replaced by the cold cruel hands of CG. At least make a little different and don't follow the script 100%
And yes I genuinely feel this way I'm sorry but I think it has to do with (so far) it looks like a shot-for-shot remake almost.
Implying you didn't already know the plot of Beauty and the Beast
Still, the trailer was one of these "plot summary" trailers.

Is that seriously the best Gaston they could get? Dude needs a bigger chin and more muscle.
Everyone in this thread is so butthurt jesus. It's a fuckin Disney movie, 99% for the nostalgia of seeing the original. Wtf do you guys expect for them to change the entire story or something?

They wanted to have a Gaston that was considered attractive by a modern audience. The 90's was all about the big muscular beefcake, and now it's all about a guy who's leaner and more metro-looking.
I'll admit I got some nostalgic chills watching this trailer though. I might have to check this one out later.

A friend of mine worked on the film. She said it's really unfortunate as originally they had an amazing animatronic head and costume for the beast (which they shot with), but for some reason it was decided to replace it with CG (probably quite late which I guess is why the CG doesn't look especially amazing - they didn't plan for it). She did, however, say the sets are incredible - and from the trailers they do look great.
It's just a shame Emma Watson is playing Belle as she has the charisma and acting (not to mention singing) ability of a cold noodle. I just can't stand the way Hollywood casts on name recognition rather than actual talent - Emma Watson announced she was starting singing lessons AFTER she got the part... she couldn't sing it well enough and yet they cast her because "oooh Emma Watson!"
Terrible

I'm willing to give Emma the benefit of the doubt, but at the same time I still think it's a travesty that they didn't cast Emmy Rossum as Belle. THAT woman can sing.

That was the point in Gaston. In the animated movie he could get away with being the hero and the Beast could have been the villain. By the end [sp]Gaston had become a depraved attention seeking individual who was willing to kill the Beast because Belle had feelings for him and not marry Gaston.[/sp] I know its a Disney movie but some people haven't seen the film believe it or not.
I'm actually excited for Beauty and the Beast. Sure its the animated film nearly frame-by-frame, but Jungle Book was like that a bit and was great in comparison to the disaster of Maleficent.
disney is really lacking original ideas lately
also that CGI looked pretty unrealistic, probably would have been better off being an animated movie as a whole imo
If only an animated Disney version of Beauty and the Beast existed.

The original folks tale was such a great blank slate, you could put it in any kind of environment and make the characters absolutely whatever, but they chose to just blindly follow an old adaptation that already figured all those things for them. It's cheap.
i think this looks fantastic. gaston looks older than he should be but i can't wait for this. Beauty and the Beast was my mothers favorite movie and she obessed over it. When this comes out im going to tell her im taking her with me to do some paperwork for a loan and need her help and just bring her to see this out of the blue.
