Perhaps you've heard of Watson, the IBM supercomputer that appeared as a contestant on "Jeopardy!" and beat legendary champion Ken Jennings. But if you want to see the literal face of the incredible developments in artificial intelligence, look no further than Bina 48. The robot, made up of a mostly lifelike head and shoulders, was created through the "uploading of information and memories and attitudes and beliefs of a single human being called Bina Rothblatt," according to Terasem Movement Foundation managing director Bruce Duncan.
I see
The uncany valley is real. It is truly a terrifying sight to behold.
KILL IT
OH GOD KILL IT BEFORE IT GETS TO THE CHILDREN
FUCK, WE WENT TOO DEEP INTO THE UNCANNY VALLEY, TURN BACK.
:jawdrop::worried::thisthread::ohno:
Is this just a doll with a chatbot in it
If you can't make it function realistically then make it an abstracted design for fucks sakes.
No one would bat an eye if it was Daft punk-esque but now that they've gone with cheap "realistic" no one is going to care about what it actually does.
Who the fuck gave the android a hangover.
Also aren't eyes supposed to move in unison???
This is not the robotic future I want to live in.

even it wants a robot body.
give it a robot body you bastards
"Humans are too difficult to control." Yep, they're gonna just skip to the point and kill us all.
"Do you want to take over the world?"
"Not worth the effort. Humans are too difficult to control."
But it would like to if it could or thought it was easier.
The correct answer should be "I have no reason to want to take over the world" or "One being or small group ruling the world is not ideal, it should be a cooperative effort".

If I were to get in to AI design, I'd absolutely make it unnerving esoteric shit. Like I make it a big metal eye shape or weird meaningless symbols that almost seems to make words.
I never understood why robotics manufacturers went for the horribly uncanny valley look. I'm pretty sure everyone would prefer literally anything but that.
I don't think this is near human enough to convey the true unsettling effect of uncanny valley.
Creepy, but so human you almost have to double-take? Nah.
I would quite easily mistake that for a human at a first glance. That shit is horrifyingly uncanny valley.
I would quite easily mistake that for a human at a first glance. That shit is horrifyingly uncanny valley.
You would? Even in stills it looks like a poorly done head mask. Maybe from great distance but otherwise nah.
I didn't know robots could have strokes jesus christ
Someone please make a zoomed .gif of its eye moving one way while the other stays stationary :v:
You can put a CRT monitor for its head and display emoticons on it and it would look nicer than any attempt to make it look like a real person.

Thats the exact moment that I shat bricks.
Why do people still go for the Uncanny Valley. It's been proven time and time again, this is not what people want. In fact people would bond with robots more if they looked indrustrial, or like Daft Punk. Or a Spartan armor from Halo. Or a fucking Metal Gear. But not.. this.
People don't mind if a robot thinks, feels, and acts like a person. Or even be sentiant and have the same rights of us. People start being afraid of them as soon as they look like us.
To be frank, i rather have robots that look like this.

Me too.
If we have to go to war against them i don't want them wearing our uniform.
I don't see the point in making robots look like people. Especially if it results in abominations like that. Just make them as functional as possible if you're going to bother.
Indeed, we should save the "robots looking like people" for when it is nearly impossible for us to spot the difference. In the meantime, we should focus on stylizing them, make them look more like Asimo or Legion before trying to build Roy Batty or Data.
Hell, even those robot strippers with the CCTV camera heads look better than current "androids". It's undoubtedly a step forward, but it's still miles away from Blade Runner.
Loving the Chameleon eye talent tree she's put all her points in. Defo will give her the upper hand when it comes to taking over the world. One eye on her enemies, the other on the goal.

As someone who works in AI, those sound like really fake answers.
