I actually quite like Thomas. If you watch all the other docs he's done/been in he seems pretty knowledgeable and I've mostly agreed with all of his statements and political whatnot.

Why did this get rated dumb? It's true, it's not an actual physical landform. It's just a bunch of random trash in the ocean that floats just under the surface so you can catch it all up in a net. Not like a combined floating island of trash or anything.

I really love VICE's videos. They feel so real and human when I watch them. They don't feel like some sort of selling point like the history channel or discovery channel would do. And generally, they are beautifully put together. I just finished part one and the environment is so amazing I would love to be someone filming that. Though the circumstances are quite sad and depressing.
Edit: Some comments on the part 2 so far is that these hipsters are so emotional. So? They are on a boat with the same people day in and day out, not many people would be fine with that. He has no where to go. I don't see it as something too odd.

Because that was the whole entire point of the video, so why point something like that out as if the thread thinks there's a garbage island floating in the middle of the ocean that people could just scoop up and recycle?
And regarding vice commentors, I like Shane and Suroosh the most, although Thomas is growing on me.
Shane is hilarious and ballsy but sometimes he does stupid shit, I think it's because hes drunk most of the time.
