The follow-up, titled Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, appears to continue the story of Talion (and the wraith Celebrimbor that possesses him), as the duo continue to seek vengeance against the Dark Lord Sauron. The first game saw Talion battle his way through the Orcish hordes of Mordor in an effort to avenge the death of his family at the hands of Sauron’s captains, pairing sword and stealth combat with Celebrimbor’s more magical abilities to destroy and dominate.

The Target page claims that Shadow of War will be released on August 22nd for both Xbox One and PS4, but given the early nature of the leak, it’s best to take that date with a grain of salt. With GDC 2017 taking place this week, though, it’s likely we’ll have more official news on Shadow of War soon.
Shadow of mordor is an excellent game I'm excited to see what this will bring
Oh fuck yes. First game ruled.
Oh great, no PC confirmation. Anyway, fucking nice. Loved the first one. Fluent as fuck and satisfying gameplay.
But will the mighty Dush return?
Oh my god yes
I hope this one starts you off with all the abilities. It bothered me that all the cool subterfuge and domination abilities they showed off don't appear until close to the end of the game
Fucking yes
They'll probably do the typical "oh no you were super powerful but at the start of the game somebody fucked you up and you lost your powers"
Balance was fucked once you had the majority of your abilities though.
Balance was fucked once you had the majority of your abilities though.
Was that not on purpose? You're fully doped, of course you will be an op power fantasy.
aint gonna lie, I'm fucking stoked.
yes pls [editline]26th February 2017[/editline]
Oh great, no PC confirmation. Anyway, fucking nice. Loved the first one. Fluent as fuck and satisfying gameplay.
THERE BETTER BE A PC VERSION FFS
I hope they'll add some sort of hard mode or make the combat system more challenging. Once you've mastered the combat, even without unlocking any abilities, the game's really easy. That's a problem because the Nemesis system pretty much relies on NPCs being able to kill you. There's no rivalry to be had if nobody can kill you, or if those that did manage to kill you only did so because of dumb luck and you have no problem whatsoever avenging yourself. It's why I've found the game actually has pretty little replay value for how much randomly generated content it can provide - on my second playthrough I just didn't make any interesting rivals and the combat was all show no substance without a challenge, so the game didn't hold my interest anymore. Personally I hope that a game with Souls-type combat is gonna pick up the Nemesis system at some point.
They'll probably do the typical "oh no you were super powerful but at the start of the game somebody fucked you up and you lost your powers"
awwww fuck, I can see that happening too. Some other Sauron minion(maybe even Saruman this time to mix it up) shows up and messes up your connection to Celebrimbor
After getting the DLC content, I noticed a decent ramp in difficulty with the new abilities the uruks were given, but I do wonder what they'll do for balance. If only because the only REAL way to challenge you towards the end of your skill progression was to literally present an uruk with broken-ass abilities. You know the ones. The one-hit ranged kill move, plus no chance for your saving throw, plus immune to ranged, combat master so finishers don't work, stealth doesn't work, hate of defeat. You know, the fuckers you LITERALLY can only kill by spamming the wraith-slap, doing your super quick combo, and bailing on it before it finishes so you can wraith-slap him again. And of course, I actually REALLY preferred the game prior to having the branding ability, because once you can turn enemies against each other, it truly loses all sense of challenge. Hopefully the PC port of this game doesn't get fucked-senseless like Arkham Knight. Don't screw me on this, WB...
But will the mighty Dush return?
Let us hope so
Balance was fucked once you had the majority of your abilities though.
I actually liked this about the game. Grind like hell in the first area and the game becomes a continuous montage of orcs having their heads chopped off in cinematic slow motion.
Balance was fucked once you had the majority of your abilities though.
You are a guy who is dead but never dies. You are OP incarnate lorewise.

funnily enough somebody had already leaked this late january at a podcast. glad to see it get announced officialy
I was just talking to a friend last week about how another game would be great, my prayers are answered.
the nice part of this game was the warlord system. the rest was pretty average AAA fare, shallow easy combat, forgettable "activities" and a "story" to not care about.
I hope they keep the option to switch your character skin. The protagonist was pretty boring imo and I preferred to play as celebrimbor. The nemesis system made the game amazing, and while the rest of the game did sometimes feel like your average shallow open world game, I feel that if they bring some of those other elements up to scratch I could see a sequel being an incredible game.
what is there to master?
I bought this game on launch and found the combat really difficult. I actually stopped playing because it was tedious and difficult. I probably wouldn't like dark souls.
I was just talking to a friend last week about how another game would be great, my prayers are answered.
The game ends with a sequel hook and it was a well received, well selling game that even won a BAFTA it really did not deserve(best designed main character, are you kidding me?)
I bought Shadow of Mordor on release and have still never played it. Fuck.
YES Shadow of Mordor was SUCH a good game it took all the overdone concepts and did them better than the games they originated from it was SUCH a good game holy shit [editline]26th February 2017[/editline] this was the only game where I didn't feel like the game pressured me into shitty side missions, while at the same times on the occasions when I did in fact play them they were a ton of fun due to the games dynamic nature basically they took the best concepts of all the games in its genre, tweaked them up and mixed them all together in a fucking nice blend of awesome and fun. add to the mix the warlord stuff and you've got yourself one hell of a game if only the story was more interesting this would have been 10/10
I can't wait for the return of Kellogg's Boo Berry
I always enjoyed how savage the animations are even if the combat is shallow and easy. You slaughter orcs like the pathetic and weak creatures they really are I don't know why they bothered using Lord of the Rings IP other than to generate more sales, you could basically cram a more interesting story in a unique setting that makes more sense.
