It seems like Youtube is being fucking awful at the moment, because it seems that somehow there's now a way to completely remove channels and videos. Something that isn't just a copyright strike.
So I want this thread to be a compilation/discussion on this. If you know of any other examples of this please post it, I want to see how much it's happened.

Youtube is fucking terrible
Youtube is an example of why monopolies are bad.

Some of those are because of the copyright system, which is nothing new. What is new is that it seems enough community flags can completely remove videos or entire channels.
Youtube seem to be the laziest fucks around and just want automated programs to do all of their work.
Why would anyone think that an Automatic support/flag system would be a good idea.
"It costs them to much money for Human support" Please. I'm sure they can afford it.

more of automatic support being shit, companies making false claims with no consequences
I'm curious and not entirely sure where to look for an answer.
But, for videos/channels that YouTube revokes the right for monetization- does YouTube still run ads and gain revenue off of the videos, while the channel is not allowed to receive a cut of the profit?
For example, Doug said he's gone 3 weeks without being able to monetize videos. Does YouTube still run ads and get money off of his videos, while he gets absolutely nothing? Or is nobody (neither Doug or YouTube) making money off of the videos he's uploaded?

Eli actually made a followup video to this, regarding how YouTube silently reinstated his channel, removed his community strike and reinstated the video that got him banned in the first place. He makes a really good point, saying something along the lines of "anyone who has a Silver Play Button (the fancy YouTube plaque awards for high-grossing channels) should be able to call up a named YouTube representative on the phone during business hours and discuss one-on-one the status of their channel, and future plans for videos and what YouTube considers acceptable. Nobody that brings YouTube $50,000 a year should be randomly and silently banned from the website."

To be honest, the logistics behind the user base and the number of videos made each minutes requires an automated system to do a preliminary cleanup job. However, Channel suspension and copyright flags needs a human system.
Oh wow, someone made the thread that I said would be interesting to see how big it gets.
when/IF a new competitor comes in you will see youtube/google change there tune

Youtube in a position where a new competitor would fail the moment it tries to be competition.

Given that it's a copyright issue, I imagine YouTube can't make money from it until its resolved

YouTube is already a huge money sink for Google. It's likely why no other competitors crop up - hosting millions of videos to millions of viewers requires technical expertise to get right, and a huge sum of money to pay for the servers, databases, bandwidth, etc.

maybe or maybe so many people get fed up with there bullshit where all people of really talent and not just reaction videos go to. don't forget patreon is kind of what makes youtubers money without relying on adds and that wasn't even a thing not to long ago

It takes a LOT to make people move on from something so convenient. Especially when it comes to entertainment which people seek out when they *don't* want to think about/engage in more serious matters.
There are hardcore fanbases that care more intimately about who creates their content, but even if those people left out of personal conviction, YouTube would still have a market-crushing audience.
Can't decide whether or not this is really a concrete example but remember last year when Mr. Enter got terminated due to the overwhelming amount of automated Viacom copyright claims?
As cringey as he is, that doesn't excuse one bit the shitty response from Youtube.
Question,
Where are all these channels with pirated Disney cartoons and auto-generated nursery rhymes getting all their views? I'm thinking bots but I'm not sure.
YouTube use to have the best comment system. Now, it's the fucking worst.
YouTube also used to have almost no complaints regarding unfair censorship, and fucking bullshit copyright claims. Because that was rare as fuck.
YouTube is completely broken at the moment. And I honestly cannot see it being fixed any time soon. I can see a new competitor happening though.

They also mostly always have a 50/50 like, dislike ratio.
Those gone sexual prank videos remind me of MMOxReview.
The thumbnails are usually either softcore or mildly censored hardcore bethesda game porn.
If you want to get rich now, you have to create a new videos website.
No copyright shit, or at least warnings first instead instant bans.
I think anyone would use something else, but ofcourse that is going to be almost impossible againts youtube's community.

Not only is it insanely expensive to try and compete with such a massive organization. You're also going to need to try and drag in people that have already established userbases, since your website isn't going to generate views for the people at first.
Then you're going to want to hire a competent legal team, Youtube doesn't have a shitty copyright system because it wants to, they do it to avoid getting sued, something that's going to happen plenty if you don't very quickly honor DMCA and other takedown requests as soon as you get them.

It's weird to see all these Youtubers scream about money so hard and so openly.. Or at least this guy.

I don't blame them when their livelihood is at stake. The only real way to get Youtube to fix it is to make a very big deal about it, too.
The community isn't good either. Hell it's full of people screaming "booh I don't want you to win money have a dislike and a flag". You know, they should at least put an human support for these things since people abuse it.
It's weird to see all these Youtubers scream about money so hard and so openly.. Or at least this guy.
Wouldn't you be pissed if your workplace just stopped paying you for a few days up to a few weeks or, even worse, paid your money to some other guy?

I think if I made Youtube my primary source of income I'd also understand the risk I was taking by not having something else to rely on. I'd blame myself for not thinking it though, like thosue innovators that risk everything they have and loose even more. It's clearly something can go very wrong very fast. That doesn't mean they shouldn't complain about it considering some of the things they've pulled before.
And it's not impossible to do both. What was it that critical worked as, a pilot in slippers? Something on-board a plane at least. I also know a guy that does video editing for people too, while working as a swimming trainer, and and goes to "high school" (gymnasie).
