Chan, launching the film in Cannes with co-stars Kwone Sang Woo, Yao Xingtong and Liao Fan, said that people never believe him when he says he is going to retire. “They say ‘no, you’re still young, you can still do it,’ but I have to stop one day.” The 58-year-old says he is bowing out with “Chinese Zodiac” because it’s one of the “most important” films in his career. Chan wrote, produced, directed and coordinated fights scenes for the film — in which his character searches for the 12 bronze heads of the Chinese zodiac. Chan promised that he’ll continue to make films, but with more acting than action, citing Robert DeNiro and Clint Eastwood his role models.
Legend.
I think Jackie Chan is pretty much this generation's Bruce Lee.
Aww. He's fucking awesome. Hope he has fun in retirement.
He was a good actor, did his own stunts.
in which his character searches for the 12 bronze heads of the Chinese zodiac.
and wants no trouble
good for him, it would be a shame to have him die doing some stunts know your limits.
in which his character searches for the 12 bronze heads of the Chinese zodiac.
sounds like the exact premise of the jackie chan cartoon
God Speed I say.
RIP in peace
it's good to know he will finally get no trouble
I heard he's actually a good drama actor in Chinese films or something like that. I bet the American film industry doesn't take him seriously just because he can't speak English well.
“They say ‘no, you’re still young, you can still do it,’ but I have to stop one day.”
No you don't. Get your ass back to risking your life for our entertainment! [sp]But in reality, it's sad, but he's becoming old. It was bound to happen.[/sp]
sounds like the exact premise of the jackie chan cartoon
I loved that show.
Isn't this like the 5th time he's retired in the past few years? I know they got him out of retirement for the movie 1911. And he does the V8 commercials.
Rush Hour was so awesome.
I hope he continues his promising Cantopop and Mandopop career.
He deserves it, I hope he has a good time.
All Legends have an ending.
Rush Hour was so awesome.
The thing is, he hates making them. He does films like Rush Hour for the money so he can fund things he wants to do. Compared to things Jackie Chan really enjoys doing, Rush Hour is weak in terms of stunts. And Chan is in his element when stunts are required. Though he has nearly killed himself a few times now, and with his age it makes sense he would be considering to stop his career now.
Chan promised that he’ll continue to make films, but with more acting than action, citing Robert DeNiro and Clint Eastwood his role models.
Well that's still something I guess. He's still a very expressive and funny actor even without the kung fu.
Probably for the best.

Name 10 things that aren't Skrillex Edit: I know it wasn't the original, I meant I'm instantly reminded of the Skrillex parody, jeez
Name 10 things that aren't Skrillex
In the original video it was 'Name 10 things that aren't Jackie Chan'
Jackie Chan could fight the entire Imperium of Man inside a warehouse full of chairs, he would win.
more lethal than Jackie Chan in a ladder factory
Better go make some more games with him and mocap all of his stunts.
In my opinion, one of the best choreographed fights ever in cinematography. Interesting fact... at the 03:52 mark, Benny Urquidez kicks so goddamn hard and fast, he extinguishes the flames on the candle. And don't fucking forget about Drunken Master II, shit was so cash. Better to burn out than to Fade away I guess.
