Johansson, 29, appears in an advertisement for the homemade carbonated drinks product SodaStream that is due to air during the high-profile Super Bowl on Sunday. "Like most actors, my real job is saving the world," Johansson says in the advertisement, which has already been seen more than 4.5 million times on YouTube. The Hollywood movie star has worked for Oxfam since 2005 but the British-based aid agency said she had stepped down due to her collaborations with SodaStream. ... Johansson's spokesman said in a statement to US media that "she and Oxfam have a fundamental difference of opinion in regards to the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement" in the West Bank.
The ad
Seems like lots of bullshit only idiots would complain about. What is Oxfam and shouldn't they be grateful Scarlet Johansson is with them instead of "firing" her?
Get bizzy with the fizzy
She's supporting ethnic cleansing
Well way to miss the point of the article completely and look like a total fucking idiot. Sorry. Didnt really get what the article was about let alone that Scarlet Johansson supports Nazi soda movements.
She's supporting ethnic cleansing
haha what get out of here
Wow I have one of those, now I feel like an asshole for using it :v:
As long as it keeps making me kool aid soda I will be on its side
Wow I have one of those, now I feel like an asshole for using it :v:
Do you also happen to own any piece of clothing ever? If so, know that it was most likely produced in a sweatshop under near slave conditions. Now feel bad about everything.
sorry is there something wrong with this advert? I am confused.
Oink oink Scarlett you capitalist pig lol Seriously though, taking money over principles you supposedly devotedly believe in and an organisation aiming to further them? How selfish. Yay ethnic cleansing!
Seems like lots of bullshit only idiots would complain about. What is Oxfam and shouldn't they be grateful Scarlet Johansson is with them instead of "firing" her?
How can you not know what Oxfam is? And wow, you're so deluded about what's right and wrong it's laughable.
an advertisement for the homemade carbonated drinks product SodaStream
I have the dispenser and like to use it, dammit. This makes the entire thing kinda sour. I should go and do what a lot of folks does; fiddle with the dispenser and attack a 10kg CO2 bomb to it over it. The about $10 they ask for for each refil of these small bombs of bottled farts is a ripoff anyway.
haha what get out of here
The truth hurts, doesn't it?
I still don't get why that "Sorry Coke 'n Pepsi" even had to be placed there. It's awkward, stupid, and hasn't brought anything but bad PR.
soda stream is garbage and the company behind it sucks. you can make your own carbonator for roughly the same price but it works much better
Oxfam isn't even necessarily BDS, she's already trying to apply a false label on them. Its bit of shame of how easy they were on her and just didn't sack her first, but its somewhat understandable in a cynical way. These sort of celebrities bring in a lot of money and publicity, so Oxfam wasn't ready to just dump her right away like they did to that other broad.
Seems like lots of bullshit only idiots would complain about. What is Oxfam and shouldn't they be grateful Scarlet Johansson is with them instead of "firing" her?
Exploitation, clean and simple. It would be akin to Mexico building a factory in the US while being able to avoid the cost of the land they built upon and American tax all together. It's cheap labor and Sodastream is capitalizing on that. Scarlett Johansson, being a Jew, would be able to visit the settlements any time she wants while a Palestinian who was kicked out from his home in 1948 would not be able to do the same even until this day.
"Like most actors, my real job is saving the world," Johansson says in the advertisement
She should have been fired for this alone.
would still destroy that ass

I got one so all i need to pay for is that cheap ass koolaid flavouring
Sodastream is a shit substitute for drinks. Just buy supermarket brand they are at least cheaper.
She should have been fired for this alone.
Get fired for saying the line you're paid to say as an actress. Righto.
Get fired for saying the line you're paid to say as an actress. Righto.
Ya blew it Johansson, clear out yer desk
She's right to stick to her guns, Oxfam is getting involved in politics. Soda Stream is a shit drink but they provide jobs for Jews and Palestinians. I'm sure if the arabs didn't want Soda Stream there, they wouldn't work for them. Johansson shouldn't be held to ransom she did good.

Johansson shouldn't be held to ransom she did good.
oxfam has always been involved in politics how did she "do good?" she just used her image to further an ad for a company that utilizes cheap labour of Palestinians sure, you can argue that without sodastream, Palestinians would suffer without the jobs, and Palestinians have made that claim, but that doesnt imply that sodastream is treating them well; perhaps she knows something we dont, or sodastream is getting better at how they treat they're employees overseas, and paying properly, but unless that information is made public, we cant make assumptions that sodastream is suddenly being the "good guys" just because the company gives them jobs, doesnt mean those jobs are great; the Palestinians are just ignorantly grateful of the chance at making money, but if they knew how badly they were being fucked over, they would not be nearly as appreciative, and for good reason the same applies to citizens of mexico or china who make shit pay to do manual labour; sure, they're glad just to have food on the table, but that doesnt mean the companies giving them jobs (ala coca cola) aren't treating their employees poorly the desperation of these workers looking for jobs doesnt imply that these companies are treating they're employees fairly or humanely
