She was driving in an intersection, stopped in the middle of traffic, shot both her sons in the head, and then herself.
One was 15 and the other was 13 if I'm not mistaken. A lot of people I went to school with were in tears for weeks. They were really great kids
This sort of thing happens a lot where I come from, except the favored method of ending their lives is poisoning the children and then hanging themselves/poisoning themselves.
What could possibly go through their heads...

Like, it sounds weird to say, but I can understand that feasibly someone could be so distraught about a divorce that they shoot themselves in the head in the middle of traffic.
Hell, I could even imagine someone having like a mental breakdown out of despair/depression while driving with their kids in the car and like driving off a cliff or something, accidentally taking all of their lives instead of just their own.
What I dont fucking get is what went through the OP and the quote above's mothers heads when they decided to "mercy kill" them.

I understand being so depressed and distraught that you decide to take the selfish action of offing yourself. I get it. Life isnt for everyone. But what makes you think "if i'm not happy they cant be either"

I believe these people see their kids as possessions, they belong to that parent. So these people, when they flip out, decide to take the kids with them. It's a very selfish way of thinking, they don't see their kids as individuals with their own lives and futures.

Stories like these just get me angry. It's one thing to kill yourself; it's another to kill your own goddamn kids. Someone like that deserves life imprisonment, but then they just go and fucking kill themselves like cowards.

if you're psychotic and suicidal you feel like if you're 'this much' of a fuck up then you'd probably feel like by virtue of association you've fucked your kids up as much if not more and want to spare them from the ~horrible pain~ you feel they will inherit

Two similar incidents happened in the vicinity of my town in the space of six months.
Whichever kid she decided to shoot second I feel extremely sorry for, having to watch their sibling get killed by their own mother and knowing that they were about to die. I don't know about anybody else but I have a much stronger bond with all of my brothers than with either of my parents.
Christ my innards hurt after hearing about this. Very tragic.

They died on my birthday :( I went to school and was all happy but than everyone was sad so i felt like a dick

I'm not really knowledgeable about these kinds of tragedies but a possible motive for a mother might be that they believe they are protecting their kids from a cruel world or something.
Irrational of course, but that's the danger because you can't think rationally.
Or it could just be their revenge for a partner that left them.

The only reason i can see her killing her kids is because she doesn't want the ex to take them from her so she kills them, then herself. It is a very selfish act.
