Mass. man accused of plotting attack on Pentagon, Capitol
BOSTON — A Massachusetts man was arrested and charged Wednesday with plotting to attack the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol with a remote-controlled aircraft filled with plastic explosives, federal officials said.
Rezwan Ferdaus, 26, of Ashland, was also charged with attempting to provide material support and resources to al-Qaida in order to carry out attacks on U.S. soldiers stationed overseas.
Ferdaus was arrested Wednesday in Framingham when undercover federal agents delivered materials he had requested for his alleged plan, including grenades, six machine guns and what Ferdaus believed was C-4 explosive.
Ferdaus is a U.S. citizen who graduated from Northeastern University graduate with a degree in physics, according to the U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts.
“The conduct alleged today shows that Mr. Ferdaus had long planned to commit violent acts against our country, including attacks on the Pentagon and our nation’s Capitol. Thanks to the diligence of the FBI and our many other law enforcement partners, that plan was thwarted,” U.S. Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz said in a press release.
The public was never in danger from the explosive devices, which were controlled by undercover FBI employees, Ortiz said.
According to court documents:
Ferdaus began planning to commit a violent “jihad” against the U.S. in early 2010. He modified cell phones to act as an electrical switch for explosives and supplied them to undercover FBI agents, whom he believed to be members of, or recruiters for, al-Qaida.
Ferdaus believed that the devices would be used to kill American soldiers overseas. In a meeting with undercover agnets last June, he was told that his first phone detonation device had killed three U.S. soldiers and injured four or five others in Iraq. Ferdaus responded, “That was exactly what I wanted.”
What piece of shit, glad we caught this guy before he did some serious damage.
Sick fuck, glad he was caught.
Let's be honest.
Random sheepherder natives without the faintest clue to why we're there are responding to an occupation like you'd expect: with violence. We're basically fighting their politics and religion, which is pretty much endemic to their culture, and being hypocrites (what happened to tolerance?). Is it any wonder he wants to fight the power? Notice how they don't prove he's Al-Qaeda as usual, just label him because he supports some sheepherders who can barely afford bullets for their guns. Stay classy, government.
I ain't saying I'm for terrorism or killing US troops, but good lord people, get your heads out of your sweet pampered derrieres and look around you at the big scam this whole thing is. They give a guy who is already pretty much prone to this kind of thinking guns, then arrest him and say "hurr look what you did." Am I the only one that finds that wrong?

He's always batshit insane like this.
It's kind of funny, considering he supplied information directly to the FBI thinking they were terrorists.

I think he took it to a new level there

I highly doubt they really gave him weapons. They intercepted him before he managed to get into contact with real Al-Qaeda operatives. He would have done something eventually. If anything, this highlights the importance of the government's monitoring programs.
Or are you just one of those people who believes in FEMA prison camps and everything else Alex Jones says?
This is the second time something like this has happened around here. Friends of Faisal Shahzad (the guy who tried to detonate a bomb in Times Square in 2010) were arrested in Watertown, MA for unwittingly helping to finance the operation last year.
And Jenkem, consider this: Faisal Shahzad didn't even attempt to reach out to Al-Qaeda, and operated totally on his own. He had live explosives planted in Times Square, and the only reason hundreds of people weren't killed was because the detonator failed to work properly, and concerned passerbys managed to alert authorities in time. Perhaps you forgot about things like that before making your "LOL UR ALL SHEEP! NEW WORLD ORDER!" rant.

Let's define "supporting terrorist groups", then, when the Taliban (I assume we were talking about them?) aren't even by definition terrorists. They barely even count as an organization since it's basically what most of the backwater tribal people in general belief anyhow.
Last time I checked people were getting arrested for "supporting terrorism" just by questioning the government. I don't buy it when the entire thing is hypocritical...

There's a damn big difference between "questioning the government" and actually building remote-control bomb detonators and being happy when you find out they supposedly killed Americans. Have you just been brainwashed to believe these murderers are just people who question the government peacefully?

3 people dying isn't serious or anything..

You realize that those detonators weren't actually used, right? The FBI lied to the guy making those detonators. Hurp durp.

First of all, explain why you claim that he has a disposition to extremist thinking.
And no, we are talking about Al-Qaida, not the Taliban. He wanted to support Al-Qaida, which is a terrorist group.

I guess that's why critics of the Iraq War didn't get arrested, yeah?
