This entire thing has been a complete shit show
fucking hell
Rating icons on Facepunch have higher resolution than these videos.
As much as I enjoyed watching the olympics in the past, it is gaining a bad reputation in my opinion. I Wont be watching any more of these games until they fix their shit. I'm pretty sure I'm going to skip the Qatar fifa as well. I can only imagine watching these things is going to feel a lot like supporting widespread, transparent corruption.

Now that the flame is extinguished there won't be any Olympics right? That's how it works.

If you run an Olympics correctly, you can actually have a really good economic boom while the Olympics is taken place. The issues start when you have to build a trillion $ worth of infrastructure in 2 years to do it. The country's government chooses to have their city's name tossed into a hat when they choose Olympic locations, so blame the Brazilian government if anything. They're the ones with a deplorable poverty rate, child prostitution, drugs, kidnappings and human trafficking, pollution, and terrible infrastructure. They wouldn't be ready for this even if they had been given 4 years notice or 10 years notice.
Can we cancel the olympics already?
No, the show must go on.
No, the show must go on.
i'm imagining someone trying to do the Queen song and then Rio appears and they start hacking and wheezing and internally dying a little in their soul with each passing moment
What were they trying to accomplish by extinguishing the flame?
What were they trying to accomplish by extinguishing the flame?
Protest. This was done by a group of teachers because they havent been paid in 2 months because of the games. Rio government workers are basically going unpaid because the city is completely broke.
What were they trying to accomplish by extinguishing the flame?
You know symbolically I hope it'll say "IOC ya fucked up, cancel this shit".
Now that the flame is extinguished there won't be any Olympics right? That's how it works.
If only it were that easy.
rio 2016: someone will die
Rio has 5,000 murders a year, some foreigner dieing will be no surprise to anybody.
Rio 2016: a new super disease is born
Rio 2016: a new super disease is born
The Olympics village is always one big orgy as far as i know by the amount of condoms that they receive so someone getting some kind of STD would not be a surprise in the case they might bump into someone without a rubber

When you want to build a house and knowingly hire a shitty engineer to do it then it's completely your fault if the house starts to fall apart and kill your family. Same goes to the Olympics for allowing Brazil to mismanage the event and have the shitshow we're having now
How did anyone ever see this going well?

When someone is looking to hire a contractor to build a house and you know you're not capable of doing it, then don't make an offer to do it. The Olympic committee takes bids for the Olympics, and Rio put their name into the hat. Rio knew they didn't have the infrastructure to host an Olympic event, they knew they couldn't make the city safe in time, they knew they couldn't fix their myriad of social issues, they knew they couldn't clean up the pollution, and they knew they didn't have the money for it. But they made the bid to the IOC. When someone has a gambling addiction, you don't blame the Casino, you blame the person with the gambling addiction. When a city thats completely broken makes a bid to the IOC and basically lies to them so they accept the bid, you don't blame the IOC, you blame that city.

You don't give work to people who are incompetent and you don't allow people to continue trying to do work when you see that it's far beyond what they're capabilties. This situation could have been avoided if the IOC actually gave a damn and stepped in earlier to either take away control from Brazil and have have their own people ensure that everything goes smoothly or move the Olympics to another venue. The fact that this shitshow in Rio is happening is telling enough that the bidding system is completely nonsense

The fact that this shitshow in Rio is happening is telling enough that the bidding system is completely nonsense
Again, the IOC takes the bid, which Rio willingly gave, and they go and examine the city to see if it can meet the requirements of an Olympic event, and meet with the city government and see their plans for the event. If Rio isn't meeting the IOC's expectations, then thats their fault, not the IOC's. The IOC can't go to the Rio government and literally take control of the city, the city's construction, and it's infrastructure away from them and just start building shit on their own. Thats not their job, thats Rio's job. If the construction crews, that Rio hired, and the organizers, that Rio hired or did themselves, are doing a shitty job then thats Rio's fault. Say you want to build a house. You go and talk to a contractor and lay out what you want built and have blueprints drawn up and you agree on a price and the contractors agree to the specifications and affirm they're capable of building the house. 2 years later the house is made of rotted driftwood and the electricity isn't properly wired and theres no clean water in the house. Do you blame yourself or blame the contractor because they lied to you about their capabilities and competency? So again, if the city of Rio isn't competent enough or capable enough to host an Olympic event, then the dumb fuckers should not have put a bid in to host an Olympic event. It's their fault that government workers haven't been paid in 2 months and it's their fault that this whole thing is such a colossal shit show. Blaming the IOC for this is like cold medicine manufacturers because people make meth with it.
This is amazing
I just feel bad for the athletes that have been training their whole lives to compete at this shitfest.
From what I understand... A lot of the people who are fucking with the Olympics are protesters who want the government to pay more attention to the country's problems than a sports event. Can't say I blame them, in that case.
Brazil is such a shit hole, like not even because of this video either, just in general. Nice asses though.
