Melbourne has been ranked the second "most fun" city in the world while Sydney has placed third last in a survey by Time Out.
The magazine's City Index surveyed 20,000 people in 18 global population hubs with 81 questions focused on six key characteristics, with respondents coming back with some surprising results.
Melbourne came in second place behind Chicago in the US, the Midwest metropolis rating high for its strong community spirit, friendliness and affordable living.
what the fuck is sydney doing
Melbourne for life tbh
Melbourne is also the place to get ganged by south Sudanese gangs.
I would have thought Pyongyang would rank on there but apparently not.
Sydney? Wasn't PAX AUS there?

Also it says 3rd worst right there in the article
I've been to Sydney a couple of times for weeks at a time, and I have to admit it's pretty boring. After about 11 pm the place is dead.
There's a few things for tourists to look at but that's about it. It otherwise feels kinda culturless and soulless, alot how I envisage London will be in 20 years. I imagine it's not that good for people aged 16-25 to grow up.
This just in: there are only 18 cities in the world.
what the fuck is sydney doing
it's probably because of the lockout laws
they made it so all the bars, clubs, etc have to not let people in after 1:30am and not serve any alcohol after 3am, which has ruined business for most of them and had a massive knockon effect throughout the city with tons of restaurants, cafes, takeaway shops, hotels and more closing down because they relied on the nightlife economy that just got demolished
chicago is #1 for most fun
guess they consider getting shot fun idk

They forgot a comma and are talking about Melbourne and not Chicago there, right?
They forgot a comma and are talking about Melbourne and not Chicago there, right?
They must have mixed Chicago up with Detroit, where you can buy a small school for three hundred thousands dollars.

This is their explanation:
While rival cities with high scores for 'inspiration' suffered low marks on ‘affordability’, Chicago seems to be more forgiving on the wallet. More people in Chicago strongly agreed they can 'live the lifestyle they want' (26 percent) and that they 'have money left at the end of the month' (25 percent) than in any other city we surveyed.
Most people are still struggling, it's just that 25% is considered a good metric comparatively. Such is city life.
I used this as a joke to one of my buddies down in Seattle saying he visited the dullest city on the planet. He tried to respond saying he knew it wasn't because growing up in Chicago he knew where the excitement was.
I added that Chicago was also on the list and he removed me from Steam. :v:

the air is actually reaching 0.4% bullet density, it's so sad. I can't go to the grocery store without at least one person dying of bullet lung :(
I never understood the sydney v melbourne feud...

not only that but they carved a path through the middle of sydney with westconnex, sold off all our private holdings, and shut down the CBD for the light rail works
Honestly our state government is entirely to blame for this. Sydney used to at least be able to hold its own against Melbourne, but now its got no chance

Can confirm Melbournes drug culture is A+.
Other than dickheads taking Juice, alotta people on mdma is always fun
melbourne doesn't have the harbour bridge, powerhouse museum or the sydney opera house. all you have is rain and trams
It's all ok though, we made it super safe for all those old timers and that means it's better!
besides hobart is where it's at anyways
I only know of one reason to visit Hobart, unless you like hills on your hills.
Last time I checked Melbourne didn't have chookas. Checkmate Melbourne.
I know it's already been touched on, but:

Get yer Chiraq t-shirts here! Get 'em before they get heroin and blood on 'em!
