Game of Thrones Fan Fights Off Burglar With Medieval Spear - Polidicks

[QUOTE]A Wichita Falls man is recovering in the Wichita County jail this evening after breaking into a home and getting stabbed with a spear by the homeowner. Thomas McGowan, 25, is charged with evading arrest with a vehicle, criminal trespass of a habitation and driving while intoxicated. It started around 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday on Clark and Huff streets when police say they tried pulled over McGowan because the car he was driving had been reported stolen. Police say McGowan took off and led police on a chase. Police say they lost the car on California Avenue and later found it after it crashed in the 700 block of Oak Street. Then, just after midnight, authorities say they got a call from Jimmy Morgan Jr. in the 100 block of Milliron Avenue saying someone had broken into his home and he had stabbed the intruder with a spear. Police say the intruder was McGowan and that Morgan Jr. had said McGowan had fled his home on foot. McGowan was found a short time later in the 400 block of Bailey Street where he was arrested. Morgan Jr. says the whole experience was terrifying because he was put in a fight or flight situation when McGowan entered his home. Morgan Jr. says McGowan entered his home through a window. Morgan Jr. says he reached for the spear which he keeps close to his bed. "This door is open within five seconds, probably within three seconds; this door was open and he was standing no more than two to three feet away from me," Morgan Jr. says. "I looked at him, I didn't see any weapons however I was terrified." Morgan Jr. says he was able to stab McGowan once. He says McGowan was lucky to deflect the spear which only injured his hand and shoulder. He says, "He started retreating and I started advancing and I was stalking him here, you never cross your legs, and I cornered him right here." In addition, he says, "The door was locked and shut. He was panicked at this point. He said, 'I can't get out, I can't get out'." Morgan Jr. says after fumbling with the door McGowan was able to get outside. "As he was running, he smeared blood from here to high heaven and he splattered here and he splattered there and splattered all over there. It was like a deer," Morgan Jr. says. Also, Morgan Jr. says he defended himself using what he has learned through a personal hobby. "It's called the SCA. It's a medieval fighting and we do use spears and swords and things of that nature. I don't have a firearm so I have a short spear, very quick, very agile and very deadly," Morgan Jr. says. He says, "I am a Christian man and I don't want to take life, however I want to make sure that he understands that his life was mine to take. I let him have it." Wichita Falls Police say McGowan was taken to the hospital for his injuries, treated, and then booked into jail.
