(CNN) -- A watchdog group meant to guard Americans' right to privacy against overreach by government cyberintelligence has been around for years. If that makes you feel safer, consider this: It had no leader until May, and lawmakers delayed for years to fully staff it. President Barack Obama met with the group for the first time Friday over the phone and e-mail record-gathering scandal involving the National Security Agency.he president wants to enlist the group to "structure a national conversation" on government cyberintelligence and civil rights. Who are the watchdogs? The group is called the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board (PCLOB), and though it was created in 2004, it does not appear to have been very active. It initially answered directly to then-President George W. Bush in an advisory role, but later became an independent agency in 2007 following advice from the 9/11 Commission, according to the White House.
http://www.cnn.com/2013/06/21/politics/cyberrights-watchdog/index.html?hpt=po_c2
The real problem is that PCLOB is nowhere near as catchy as PRISM.
I can imagine the discussion regarding this issue behind closed doors. "Get this as far away from high ranking officials as possible!" "Well, we got this PCLOB thing we never really use, it's supposed to guard an individuals priva-" "PERFECT! MAKE A STATEMENT!"
This is going to be an eventful presidency from the looks of it
The 2nd term is just starting and already we have massive scandals. Wonder what else is going to appear, now that no one trusts anyone anymore.

Also, concerning Obama, d'you think he's a puppet or just a bit of a Conservative knob?

Why should a party have to do with anything. If the candidate is right for the job, and better than his opponent/opponents, then why would things like that matter.

TBH I found this video today. Either way, I enjoy having my beliefs attacked. That way I can further refine them and maybe put out some information that people don't know about. What I don't enjoy is people just slapping a title on me and calling me crazy. I enjoy debate, not personal attacks. If I say something wrong I implore all of Facepunch to tell me why I am wrong. If you convince me, or catch me on something I am misinformed about, I am happy to say I was wrong.
I'd like to think that he is earnest, but faces opposition on all fronts due to his idealism.
I kinda have similar opinions; all those obnoxious filibusters and cantankerous old Republicans who probably secretly want to hang him from an oak tree before going home to sleep with their brother-mothers (it's almost like I'm Stephen King). Hating rednecks aside, in his first term he did seem like he was trying to do good but was constantly roadblocked by dusty emaciated corpses that the janitors forgot to sweep out of the laughing stock you folks call Congress. It's hard to mow the lawn when there are dead bodies covering it and you are legally bound to not re-enact that one amazing scene from Braindead (Dead-Alive in the States) to get rid of them, or even remove them from the lawn at all. The sooner the oldsters of Congress get a fatal case of the vapours, or end up choking on their Salisbury steak and macaroni, the better for America and all of mankind, given America's position of power in the world. Old men, even electronic old men, are not the ones who should hold such power over the world, since everything starts breaking down when you age and rot, including one's brain, and an irreparable brain is of no use to anyone except whoever McDonalds sources their Pink Slime(tm) from.

Tea Party can go too, along with whatever bad apples the Democrats have.
They're all bad apples. It's not just the Republicans, none of them are innocent.
Was Obama born in Hawaii, on the 6th of August 1961?
According to Obama in that first part of the video. No, he wasn't born in the USA.
According to Obama in that first part of the video. No, he wasn't born in the USA.
I'm asking for your view of reality. Do you think, that he wasn't born in the USA, despite the existence of a birth certificate saying otherwise?
I'm asking for your view of reality. Do you think, that he was born in the USA, despite the existence of a birth certificate saying otherwise?
I think you meant "Not born in the USA, despite the ex...." And right now, I am leaning towards thinking he wasn't. Before I saw that video I posted, I thought birthers were a bunch of nut-bags. I thought this because there was a birth certificate as you said. So while I cannot speak from authority, I can tell you that my tendency at this moment is to doubt it. This is mostly due to that video I saw today. Edit If Obama himself hadn't spoken the words, I wouldn't have given it a second thought. Now I am, this is what that is, a second thought.
I'm asking for your view of reality. Do you think, that he was born in the USA, despite the existence of a birth certificate saying otherwise?
Obviously the birth certificate is fake as well as the birth announcement in the local paper. You see, his parents (Kenyans) knew he was going to lie his way into presidency one day so they bribed The Honolulu Advertiser on August 13, 1961 to print an announcement of the birth of a child named Barack (his true birth name is Kenyaman McSuperkenya, but that would be a dead giveaway) there.

It would probably be easier to fake a birth certificate than it would be to break into two separate newspapers and change their microfilmed archives of the birth announcements These are what really shuts down the conspiracies imo, but it's also asinine to think that if Obama really wasn't eligible to be president the powers-that-be wouldn't have found this out BEFORE he had won. There were many forces against not only a democrat winning, but also against a black man winning. Something would have come up because all the idiots went into full-on investigation mode once they saw a charismatic black dude at the helm of the democratic party.
Let's cut the crap. You do realize that video is blatantly edited?
Find me the full context so you can dispel me of my second thoughts. Seriously I really want to like Obama, the video made me doubt that.

I am going to have to research this further because Wikipedia does not cover it. They do not state that it was 'taken out of context' or 'a joke', it just ISNT there.

Ok after further research, my second thoughts are dispelled. http://www.politifact.com/rhode-island/statements/2010/aug/05/chain-email/e-mail-sends-readers-youtube-video-where-obama-adm/
The 11-minute video, which has been online since May 2, is titled "Not Natural Born -- TRUTH MATTERS." It starts with a 30-second clip of Obama speaking before a group of adults. It begins in mid-sentence: " . . . that maybe I'm not an American citizen. Some people said he has a forged birth certificate. Well, first of all, it's true I'm not an American. I was not born in Hawaii. I wasn't born in the United States of America. I come from Kenya." If you listen closely, you can hear bad editing. The volume and sound quality of his voice change at key points, such as between "it's true I'm not" and "an American." The video never shows his lips where he makes his key admissions, so you can't see if his lips are in sync with what he's saying. And his audience offers no reaction to what should be a stunning admission. So where did that portion of the video come from? The logo at the bottom of the video reads obamasnippets.com, which takes you to a YouTube humor channel that features seven videos in which Obama's words have been edited for laughs.
here's what jay carney will say "its the other party's fault that the board wasn't filled" reporter's rebuff "but wasn't it vacant the entire time that the democrats controlled congress?" jay's response "i don't know, you know the answer, its all eric holder's fault, good day that is all you need to know"
How do you not notice the fact that they do a cut in the middle of what he's saying?
Sorry, I didn't pick up on it. I don't have much experience judging the veracity of video edits.
