A former Walton County resident has been indicted by federal authorities for “online sextortion and cyberstalking of young girls.”
Christopher P. Gunn also was charged with similar crimes in Alabama in April.
A news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Montgomery, Ala., states that Gunn posed online as teen sensation Justin Bieber to persuade young girls to provide him with inappropriate photographs.

In Florida, Gunn targeted girls ranging from 13 to 17 years old, according to a news release issued Tuesday by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Pensacola.

The Florida indictment states Gunn “extorted images and videos of minor females in various states of undress, naked and engaging in sexually explicit conduct.”

It claims Gunn violated federal cyberstalking statutes “by engaging these females online with the intent to injure, harass and cause substantial emotional distress.”

Florida’s U.S. Attorney’s Office states Gunn victimized girls from October 2009 to March 2011. It also alleges he successfully targeted 11 teens “who resided in various states throughout the nation.”

The Florida news release cites no specific charges against Gunn, but states that he faces up to 50 years in prison if convicted.

Reports from Alabama said Gunn used photographs he obtained from victims to blackmail them into exposing more of themselves or even committing sex acts.

In his Bieber persona, Gunn used promises of event tickets, passes or promotional items to lure the girls and later to extort more from them, the Alabama U.S. Attorney’s Office said in its announcement.

Alabama authorities said many of the photos or videos Gunn received from victims were produced with their cell phones.

The news release states Gunn faces charges for production of child pornography, interstate extortion, using a facility of interstate commerce in furtherance of unlawful activity and possession of child pornography.

It also says Gunn developed two methods of meeting and then blackmailing his victims.

The “New Kid Ruse” was undertaken in 2009 and involved Gunn initiating contact with victims via a Facebook message in which he pretended to be a new kid in town.

The “Justin Bieber Ruse” was first noted in late 2011, the release said. Gunn used interactive video chat services such as Omegle or Skype to sell himself as Bieber, the release said.

Don't know if to laugh or not :/
But how could a girl possibly believe that he would be Justin Bieber if he wants sexual photos?

Crafty
I thought 'up to 50 years' was a bit excessive while I was reading then I saw that he used the pictures he had previously to blackmail the girl into doing more stuff for him against their will.
Again I dont see how they could believe he was Bieber, maybe he just used that video of Justin on webcam and faked it for a few minutes to make them believe.
because girls these days would do anything for their favorite celebrity
i did the same thing, except no blackmail, and got them to put shoes on their heads and tell me their social security no. to test their stupidity

You committed fraud and scammed people into giving you their social security numbers.
i did the same thing, except no blackmail, and got them to put shoes on their heads and tell me their social security no. to test their stupidity
The putting shoes on the head seems like harmless hijinks, but getting the social security number is pretty bad.
Thought they would all be mine, mine.

These days? You never heard of groupies in the 80's?
Sucks for him, I've seen a few people doing this. You wouldn't know if the girls were underage.
Dunno about his particular situation but still.
