Tonight my Dad told me for he has been losing his sanity

So tonight i came home from being out with a few mates when my dad was still in the garden (the only door i have the key for is the back door). I went over just to say hi because him and my mother recently split up and he's been depressed recently and has been taking anti-depressants when he said we needed a chat. over the next half an hour he literally spilled his heart out about being so jealous about my mum that he's been getting paranoia, while talking to me about it he kept saying that he shouldn't be telling me because 'they' won't allow it, 'they' being non-existant and part of his paranioa.
It took him about 15 minutes just to say that as he kept bursting into tears and telling me he shouldn't be telling the kids about it. Towards the end he told me bluntly that paranioa was taking over his head and he's been speaking to himself and generally pranging that my mum is causing 'them' to be in his head.
I need a bit of advice, he's taking a bunch of anti-anxiety and anti-depressants aswell as sleeping pills as he can't sleep due to the paranioa. What shall i tell him? :/
Take him to the [del]vets[/del] docs
But really, get some medical attention for him.
get him to a doctor he needs help, nothing else you can do
Psychologist? Therapy? Doctor. Make your choice.
I feel tempted to make some sort of witty response but I can't think of anything and I kind of feel sorry for you
Forgot to add he's having counselling and he's been telling them the same things but he's just having to talk to some professional.

I was going to say that exact same thing
I'd keep an eye on him, anti-depressants and paranoia are a deadly combination. Sleeping pills don't help either.
Definitely take him to a doctor. Anti-Depressants can have some pretty nasty side effects. Go to a doctor, he might get prescribed some better medication.

He's told his counselor who's probably hired by the NHS to deal with people with depression so she must know.

Well in that case I don't know what you can do. I guess you can just wait and hope that the counselor can do something for him.

Before he OD's on his sleeping pills you mean.
Get him off the anti-depressents. Does your father drink?
scizophrenia

He does and he drinks a lot, is that something i should be worried about? I told him to stop in our chat because i thought it might have been that too.
no seriously delusional thinking is a pretty common symptom of scizophrenia and so is auditory hallucinations no joke no seriously.
give him a huuuuug.
The internet isn't exactly the best place to ask this. You should probably get a hold of a sanity hotline of some sort and tell them about your case.

Drink and meds is always bad, especially for stuff like anti-depressants.

Get him to cut down, also tell the counsler (Sorry for bad spelling) that he does drink alot. After hes off the pills, get him to attend some meetings for Alcohalics (if hes able). Its a long process to recover from. Just make sure to report anything strange.

sanity hotlines suck. I called one of them and got a busy line.

He's probably going to kill you then commit suicide.
Everyone reacts differently to major things like divorce. If you're lucky, it's just a phase and he'll get over it.
If not, well...

no pudt duck
you are the ducks
Take him to a REAL psychiatrist. Not a councilor or a medical doctor. Often times councilors don't help at all and medical doctors (as usual) over medicate. A good psychiatrist can, in time, get to the root of the problem and if needed prescribe the correct medication at the correct dose.
dude needs a lady
Get him to the emergency room at a hospital. There's no time to fuck around.
There is a serious risk of him committing suicide.
Antidepressants seriously increase that risk.
If you need professional advice for this situation, call 1-800-273-TALK (1-800-273-8255). That is the number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. The NSPL is not only for suicidal people; it is an excellent resource for practically all mental health concerns. It is toll-free and 24/7.
You must act now. You may not get another chance.
you should buy him some fried chicken and he'll bust a nut, eat the chicken, shit in a litter box, and life will be just fucking great and fine and dandy and you folks can go back to catching fireflies in the backyard and what not. GOOD FOR FUCKING YOU!

Tell your mum.
My friend had almost the same issue and he told his mum; even though they had split up, she offered and gave a shit load of help
