http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2014/roll271.xml This is for allowing the government to seize data from private communications installations and companies. Is there a discussion about this elsewhere?
Probably not. The government does whatever the fuck they want so I'm not surprised. Also, seeing as you're from Israel, you should also be aware that YOUR government's primary export is data and intelligence, the invasiveness of which dwarfs the size of the US
I don't think it's helpful to play the 'whose government is worse' game.
I'm not saying which is worse, I'm just saying if you're surprised by the government passing a law relevant to a practice they were infamously exposed about at this point in the game, then maybe you're not aware of your OWN government's practices
Starting a flame war is not the way to talk about what my government is doing, and frankly, I'm not the sort of person to debate about it's politics. I was trying to start discussion about something I deem outrageous that could potentially harm the internet for at least millions of lives, and all you care about is how my government compares to the US government. tl;dr You don't want to discuss anything, just blame shift. I'm not 'surprised', grade A English inference skills you got there buddy. Also http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1441520
"the us is passing a bill" "i think israel already does something like that" "stop the flame war anti-semite we are above comparisons (to you)"
"the us is passing a bill" "i think israel already does something like that" "stop the flame war anti-semite we are above comparisons (to you)"
He assumed I was surprised and it seemed like 'you can't criticize us you're from israel' more than 'i think israel already does something like that'. I apologize, I didn't realize I was a member of the JIDF. People are already talking about it in SH so I'd rather have this thread closed if at all possible.
tone down your persecution complex his opening sentence was to the effect of "yeah our government is a steaming shit-heap, how about yours?" and you still somehow took that as a personal attack
I opened this thread because this seemed huge enough to maybe deserve it's own thread. If you want to open a thread about Israel, go right ahead. I won't stop you. I won't go in there and say how the United States is also a shit government that does similar things. Because that would be unrelated, now would it? Like a poster above me has said, it's neither fruitful nor contributing to start deciding who is the most significant evil among several elements of interest. I think it started at the thread title. I didn't know it would spark such an effect, if it at all did.
this stuff has been going on. nothing new. all your info is gathered constantly . its only places like usa that do this
this stuff has been going on. nothing new. all your info is gathered constantly . its only places like usa that do this
Well, this thread was made in light of the law actually passing through all stages minus overview by the president; correct me if I'm wrong. It's not that I'm criticizing the government as a whole. Any reason why so many people voted for this kind of thing, when bills like SOPA and CISPA haven't really passed?
This is HR4681, which a thread in SH was created. Its not what that one dude in congress thinks it is. Section 309 is what you're looking at.
What have I done
come to houston guys cheap gas [t]http://i.imgur.com/fZ0pqLr.jpg[/t]
come to houston guys cheap gas [t]http://i.imgur.com/fZ0pqLr.jpg[/t]
It's in the low 2s in MN, havent seen prices like this in years, and i bought my first car like 2mos ago and it gets 2x the mileage of the truck i was using
I am still unhappy with the price of gas where I live.
US or Israel.. hmm.. that's a difficult one. I'm gonna go with C) Both the governments can suck a bag of dicks. Canada where it's at! [sp]Although I was born in Russia so I can't really talk either[/sp]
Our government is dysfunctional
so just because the op is from israel you guys have to bring it up?
US, UK, Canada, New Zealand and Australia are all fucked up, and things don't look like they're going to get better any time soon either.

Surprising and kinda sad no one brought up the petition against this https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/protect-our-privacy-and-please-veto-hr-4681-aka-intelligence-authorization-act-fiscal-year-2015/lln5hN5c This is important and it's our duty to spread the word about this, we are doing a very poor job as of right now, our founding fathers would be disgusted, also this does affect people outside of the U.S, since it tracks all data from U.S databases on the internet and if you use the internet you will be in their servers
Gas is still upwards of $2.30/g in some parts of Arizona :( Still SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than $4.15
at least you're not paying $7 a gallon like us
I'm not saying which is worse, I'm just saying if you're surprised by the government passing a law relevant to a practice they were infamously exposed about at this point in the game, then maybe you're not aware of your OWN government's practices
"Oh man an entirely different government is doing something mine does, I guess I don't know anything about my government!" What the fuck is your logic
at least you're not paying $7 a gallon like us
Atleast everything in Europe isn't that far from shit, and your cars dont get shitty MPG, and you guys get paid more http://www.bloomberg.com/visual-data/gas-prices/ Back on topic Yeah, this is bullshit that this even passed.
It can only get worse. It turns out a lot of comments regarding net neutrality were ignored by the FCC due to shenanigans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nfm6-6qbIc This video should bring you up to speed on the above.
I know there's a post about it a couple slots up but... AMERICANS! SIGN THIS SHIT FOR YOUR RIGHTS AND FUTURE! Do your research if you care, but if you love your rights as a citizen, AT ALL- you will sign this. If you enjoy having the right to due process, meaning no one can run down your door and throw you behind bars without warrant and proof, then you'll sign this. Edit: Here's why you should help veto this bill: (Sec. 302) Prohibits the authorization of appropriations by this Act from being deemed to constitute authority to conduct any intelligence activity not otherwise authorized by the Constitution or laws of the United States " Confusing? The best I can break it down into lamen English is "It restricts spying as being lawfully considered as the ability to collect the information, which normally would be constitutionally illegal." (So even though the Constitution says that holding US Citizen information and stealing it are illegal, they can conduct it without oversight.) aand... "(Sec. 309) Requires each element of the intelligence community to adopt Attorney General-approved procedures for any intelligence collection activity not otherwise authorized by court order or subpoena that is reasonably anticipated to result in the acquisition of nonpublic telephone or electronic communications to or from a U.S. person, including communications in electronic storage, without the consent of a person who is a party to the communication." (So FB, iCloud, Gmail, Facepunch, Instagram, that dating profile of yours, your text messages and voicemails, it's all up for grabs and not only do you not get to know they're snooping; the hosting service doesn't either. So they'll essentially be getting a free pass to hack any company or individuals information under the pretense of "National Security". With plausible reasons going as far as "He had a secret meaning in his text message, we were sure of it.") There, I did the research for you. There is a lot more to the bill though than just that- A bunch of interesting snippets about the Ukraine, Russian Embassies, ISIS, etc. That Link to the bill itself, again.
It can only get worse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nfm6-6qbIc This video should bring you up to speed on the above.
Dude, no doubt. There is so much potential money riding on this for gigantic corporations its sick. So of course they're going to try and pull every rope under the sheets.
