[release]TORONTO - A ragtag group of would-be revolutionaries gathered in a downtown parkette Thursday night to organize committees and solicit donations for Saturday’s planned Occupy Toronto demonstration. Around 250 people — the majority of them in their 20s— assembled in a circle around several organizers of the upcoming protest against capitalism and big business — a Toronto-based rendering of the Occupy Wall Street protests that first took root in New York’s financial district in mid-September. The group gathered in the Bloor St. W and St. George St. area, just east of the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. Several “volunteer facilitators” took the crowd through the various committees being formed for the demonstration, and sought recruits to help run them. Occupy Toronto’s logistics, food, media and “facilitation” committees needed fresh troops, and its medical committee sought donations of supplies to combat the harsh effects of pepper spray and tear gas. The media committee was looking for volunteer bloggers to record the event. “This is going to be awesome,” organizer Kevin Konnyu, 33, told the crowd. “Another world is possible.” Konnyu, a photographer by trade, estimates a turnout of as many as 2,000 people for Saturday’s march, and expects around 250 will set up camp for the “long haul.” Organizers said participants will meet at King and Bay Sts. at 10 a.m. on Saturday, but kept the parade route under wraps for fear police would set up road blocks in an attempt to control marchers. “After it starts, you’ll find it,” said one young, stubble-faced and bespectacled man sitting cross-legged in the front row. Occupy Toronto organizers expressed the desire for peaceful demonstration. Toronto Police are ready for the demonstration, spokesman Mark Pugash said. “We’ve been putting together a plan...to protect the rights of the (demonstrators) and the rights of the public,” said Pugash, adding that police have learned lessons from the aggressive handling of G20 protesters by some officers. “We put out an action plan that looked at the G20,” Pugash said. “We try and learn from every situation we’re in, and this one is no exception.”[/release] TL;DR Basically the whole Occupy Wall Street thing spread and is planned to be in my city, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Hurray. And God Damn it, I was gonna go to University of Toronto for something, I think the function will be postponed or something. Ha, I wont be in Victoria until Monday so I won't have to deal with stupid protesters.
Why should we have protests in Canada?
Canada has been subjected to terrible things as a result of corporate greed as well, the US isn't alone in it. Ex: Canadians tend to have over-priced internet, no?
Why should we have protests in Canada?
Solidarity. For example, I still wear my Norway avatar with pride.

I think at this point they're protesting just to protest.
Being cynical, the whole thing is pointless.
