This is an important question because a lot of teenagers these days think that buying an album off itunes is the equivalent of getting a cd from a record store. I feel that cds and their packaging are an important art form and should not be reduced to mere audio files on computers.
If you got a collection, post a picture or list of what you got in it. Or you can just talk about it if you're too lazy. I keep my collection in my discogs account, which is helpful because I can also get label/artist information, sleeve pictures, and reviews/ratings on the album I have instantaneously. It's all audio files and burned discs, I have very few actual storebought CDs.
I tend to buy CDs, rip them, lend them to friends and never get them back.
I do however have a lot of LPs. I used to have a whole load more, when I collected, however I left them at my parents house when I moved out to go to university. My parents divorced, and neither of them will admit to what happened to my (very valuable) collection.
Sometimes I just buy them for the little booklet inside with the lyrics and stuff.
When I bought Dark Passion Play by Nightwish, I accidently spilled coffee over the book, the disc was fine but the book was ruined. I bought the album again, jsut for the book
I have probably 100 or so actual albums. I'm not gonna list them all out though.
I have lots of CDs but I don't have my collection typed out. It's kind of neat because they way I have my CDs organized the new ones go on top so I can see how my music tastes have changed over the years.
If I actually give a shit about the album I'll buy it. I always seem to like CD quality better than Itunes/ripped audio.
I'm stuck between whether I should start a CD or a vinyl collection, I'm gonna buy a set of turntables but I dunno whether to go digital with CDJs or vinyl,
help me out.
I always try and get a physical copy of an album.
I bought MP3s for a while but now I get CDs. It doesn't cost much more and they're much nicer to have.
I bought MP3s for a while but now I get CDs. It doesn't cost much more and they're much nicer to have.
If you buy from the right places, CDs are even cheaper than mp3s.
I don't download any music, aside from a couple songs here and there.
Needless to say I have hundreds of them around the house, AND some vinyls.
The feeling of having something concrete with nice covers and stuff beats files on a computer

Wow, what kind of places? The cheapest I've ever found them is 12$ from Young God Records (And they're signed, which kicks ass)
I collect CD's, Vinyls, and Cassettes.
i collect mp3s
I have almost zero cds. I honestly don't have enough money to buy all the stuff I'd want/ have access to all the stuff I want. Besides, bands make so little money from the cds themselves so I figure I'll spend more on tickets and merch and support them that way.
I'm not trying to justify stealing art from bands that I like. It's just the truth of the matter is I have no other way.
I got some placebo, Smashing Pumpkins, Linkin Park and Muse

Buy them used so that way record stores get the money

And I doubt this is your kind of music but these two labels sell CDs really cheap:

I've just recently started buying more CDs, opposed to the MP3s. So, I don't have a very extensive collection at the moment, but I hope to have lots more in the future. The majority of what I have are most the EPs and major releases by Modest Mouse and Radiohead. There's a few by Beck and Nine Inch Nails in there, too. Also, TRS-80 is awesome.
I have quite a few, but no way I'm typing them all out. I try to get all my music on CDs, and if I can't get find it in the store, I'll usually download it on itunes and then buy the real thing later on.
I would buy music if I could afford it :(
I would buy music if I could afford it :(
Second hand cd shops bro. They're usually still in really good condition
I have a good 70~80 CDs, but that's still not enough. :argh:
I do. If a CD isn't worth buying, then it isn't worth downloading either.
I don't really collect them, they just kind of accumulate.
when I get paid, half goes on new albums.
I prefer to have something to show for, with downloads its just invisible, I prefer the CD to be there on show
I buy CDs because I like having the music on something but my computer.
I'm also guessing it's gonna be fun to look back at my music in 20 years.

The point is that I still don't have any money.
