It’s interesting to see people like Nintendo saying smartphones are destroying the games industry. Of course, if I was trying to sell $49 pieces of plastic to people then yes, I’d be worried too.
this is sad
Still have yet to play any Angry Birds. Can't believe what amounts to a flash game can make so much money.
Have Nintendo said smartphones are destroying the gaming industry? The developers of Pokemon said they added a lot of convenience features because smartphones have made people impatient but I haven't seen anyone at Nintendo claiming it was destroying the industry.
Angry birds' 5 minutes of fame ended ages ago and their relevance is starting to fade.

how is angry birds at all famous?
I agree with Nintendo really
I don't, but I do think the angry bird devs are talking out of their asses and it's amazing that a basic mobile game no different from thousands of flash games before it is now more popular than jesus. The creators are now so full of themselves too it's ridiculous
The news is from fucking 2011.
Also, the devs should not shittalk Nintendo. Nintendo has done more for the game industry and brought more iconic characters with their great games than Rovio ever did.

Its more like a shot glass calling a water cooler fat.
The original super mario bros is still an entertaining game today.
Angry birds got boring after about a week.

after about 5 minutes for me
I don't get why so many people on here seem to detest angry birds. I think it's pretty cool how a (pretty fun) mobile game became such a big deal.
Angry Birds sucks. The only people that still play it are slightly mentally handicapped people (i.e. 80% of the developed world).

The game is built upon ideas created by others, and gets too much attention for what it is (a child friendly rip off of games like Crush the Castle)
Bad piggies or whatever the one where you build carts/planes/other shit is kind of fun, but I think the business model of in-app purchases is silly.

I remember playing games like Angry Birds years ago.
They were more in depth than Angry Birds, there were many different versions, and every single one was completely free.
That was back when sites like AddictingGames were just starting to spread like crazy.
I tried AngryBirds for a bit, it was just sorta 'eh'
Felt exactly like the games i played years ago. After a minute, i got tired of it.
The only reason i can think Angry Birds is spreading, is because its more kid oriented

It's not even good by demolition game standards.
angry birds was so terribly boring...
Angry birds isn't the boss of mobile games now anyway, Candy Crush is the ruling one now.
coming from a guy who charges for free flash games

A large amount Facepunch member hate mobile games in general.
So what do we call you then? A gimmick clinging to life?

They took a concept from several old flash games, only changing the character designs to make it as marketable as possible. They went on to become one of the, if not the most profitable game developers of all time.
They say that great artists steal, but it's pretty easy to see why people hate them.
