For reference the current Superchargers put out about 150 kW between two stalls and 120 kW to one car.
I wish he called them something other than Superchargers. Superchargers are already something else when it comes to cars. I keep reading these titles thinking tesla somehow put forced induction into an electric car
I'm pretty curious how we are going to move forward to electric cars 350kW is A LOT OF POWER that's 1458A of current @ 230V enough to be running 64 electric showers at the same time. or 22kV pylon at 16A of current. The power consumption to supply a world's worth of cars is... ludicrous.. We would need tens, possibly hundreds of billions of dollars worth of electrical infrastructure rebuilding, that's something I have some serious concern about.

You buffer power continuously into batteries at a fairly constant rate (or not at all if solar panels are expected to provide enough), and then you discharge from the batteries. Plus you only use these things for long distance traveling and generally trickle charge. [editline]24th December 2016[/editline] Plus the eventual goal is 720 kW :v:
Plus the eventual goal is 720 kW :v:
So basically cars will turn into portable batteries for houses.
So basically cars will turn into portable batteries for houses.
Wrong chemistry for it to be cost effective.
So basically cars will turn into portable batteries for houses.
750kW? A house consumes the max of 20kW. It sounds like they want to replace the electric grid with power-stations and you charge your car up there and bring the electricity home yourself...
off-grid teslas confirmed for what will be the vehicle of choice in the coming mad max future
Would be nice not having to wait in long lines at the gas pump for tanker trucks that aren't coming because they were looted the next time a major hurricane hits like so many were during Ike. There would probably be lines at off grid EV super fast chargers (5 minute charge?), but at least they won't run out of supply assuming these things can handle car after car. [editline]24th December 2016[/editline] Well unless somebody loots the solar panels which is entirely a likelihood...

Also have the option of hooking up diesel generators I suppose. [editline]24th December 2016[/editline]
I wish he called them something other than Superchargers. Honestly, all I want from Tesla is to have something akin to Volkswagen Van with four wheel drive, camper capability, and tow kit. If they can manage this, with solar power and electric batteries... I'd hit the road and spend my days hunting down rare fish in North America, and possibly a bit of time spent on catching new species and subspecies of fish. Spend my time doing a bit of rabbit hunting, and cooking the meat with some wild edible plants, while trading pelts at farmers markets. It would be the ultimate anarchist life style. I would actually be free to explore this entire country, and the only stops would be to replace some parts and recharge the batteries with solar panels.
To be fair the Model X does look a tad bit polarizing. Wish they made a boxy vehicle.
What's wrong with the X? The only thing I find disagreeable is the hatchback-style back end. I prefer the classic trunk design over hatchbacks.
