To pay 250,000 officers the average officer's starting salary of around £22,000 would cost £5.5 billion a year. Ferrari picked up on the apparently vastly inflated number: “So you’re recruiting more than 10,000? You’re recruiting 250,000?” “No,” insisted Abbott. “We are recruiting 2,000 and perhaps 250.” Asked where the 250,000 figure came from, she said: “I think you said that, not me.” Ferrari, correctly, pointed out that was not true.
Audio of entire interview in source. And people actually are going to vote for that party? Why does the government seem to attract so many fucking idiots into its various positions.
It's like I'm watching The Thick of It again.
For fuck's sake, we're going to have a Tory majority til the end of time at this rate.
she just reviled their true plans; a true police state, if everyone is a cop no one will break the law!
I think you said that not me Who needs comedy when you have the state of Labour right now?
Just when I start thinking about voting Labour, they keep reminding me not to by doing stupid shit like this.
Diane Abbott is a fucking joke. She's one of the biggest reasons I'm put off by Labour. Doesn't help a lot of voters think she's racist too.
Way to outshine the Maybot 3000 and her super shitacular tour of Aberdeen. Ferrari does this, Labour should be well aware of that. It happened to the Greens in 2015, Bennett said their manifesto pledge of 500,000 new social homes would cost £2.7billion, which amounted to £5,700 per home (build cost for an average home in the UK is currently something like £180,000). You'd think the people vying for power in this country would at least take the time to run the numbers before they run their mouths.
