These sorts of emulators often take years to come together and even more time to optimise, and the first version of this particular example seems to be legitimate; yet based on the comments of those trying it out is far from playable or functional on a meaningful level. Those deep enough into the scene to have dump files of Wii U games have been testing a host of retail titles, typically reporting load times of multiple minutes and crashes after initial screens
...
Now we will just need 5 more years until it can possibly run at full speed.
Oh boy
Do many wiiu games require the touchscreen to be used?
Well now im super pumped for this! Finally get to experience that Windwaker HD boner
Do many wiiu games require the touchscreen to be used?
Only games I can think of is a Kirby game and Wind Waker HD. [editline]13th October 2015[/editline] Also this emulator isn't open source.
It could be taken down very easily if it was, I presume?
If it distributes code/bios/roms from WiiU, it can be taken down either way.
It'd be pretty cool if it could hook up to a tablet for the wiiu pad. Emulators might be one of the main reasons Nintendo even considered the pad and why they don't sell them separately.
Nice, although I do wonder why it's not open source. Wii, PS3 and 3DS emulators are all open-source, and the reason why Dolphin can run Gamecube and Wii games as well as it does today is because they released the code and allowed others to work on it. That, and it would help a lot if Nintendo were to file a DMCA takedown or otherwise try to stop the project.
Now watch this being hammered on by a Nintendo Cease and Desist notice, i mean Nintendo is still chasing SNES emulators :v:

Version 1.0.0, source code in releases ... How the hell did these guys manage a somewhat working emulator..?
Only games I can think of is a Kirby game and Wind Waker HD. [editline]13th October 2015[/editline] Also this emulator isn't open source.
Even with Wind Waker you can play with the Pro Controller, but having the map on the gamepad is really useful.
When can we spoof amiibo with our phones?
Even with Wind Waker you can play with the Pro Controller, but having the map on the gamepad is really useful.
iirc that was a glitch that was then patched out. Even the reprints of the game show it as a Gamepad only game. When I get the chance I'll see if the Pro controller still works.
Version 1.0.0, source code in releases ... How the hell did these guys manage a somewhat working emulator..?
The Wii U isn't particularly complex to emulate. The CPU is basically a triple-core PowerPC 750, a very well-understood architecture (used on the Wii and Gamecube, as well as a bunch of old Macs). The GPU is TeraScale, also pretty well-known from Linux display drivers. Three cores and a GPU is a fairly limited amount of parallelism, not too hard to keep in sync. That's what's kept the PS3 from being emulated well (along with no documentation on the SPU cores), and what good emulators of early consoles spend most of their time on. And it's not very high-powered, so even an unoptimized version like this is working at testable speeds. Not playable, but you don't need to run overnight just to get to the main menu.
Do we even have a fully working 3DS Emulator? I wanna play Animal Crossing New Leaf.
I really think a lot of Wii U games look really good running on native hardware. Playing them in a few years with amped up graphics will be an amazing experience
Source code is in releases for some reason: https://github.com/Exzap/Cemu/releases
That's not the source code, that's just their GitHub repo containing only a readme.md zipped up.
damn the future is fucking speeding towards us
Do we even have a fully working 3DS Emulator? I wanna play Animal Crossing New Leaf.
Nope. Same goes for Vita.
Do we even have a fully working 3DS Emulator? I wanna play Animal Crossing New Leaf.
Closest thing to it is Citra, but it'll likely take a few more years for people to play games on it from start to finish with a decent framerate.
-snip didnt read-
Do we even have a fully working 3DS Emulator? I wanna play Animal Crossing New Leaf.
Yeah, there is but it's in development though, barely works at all. It's called Citra.
Well here it is at 5-7 FPS with graphical glitches on an i7-4700 series CPU, GTX 970 and 12GB RAM.
iirc that was a glitch that was then patched out. Even the reprints of the game show it as a Gamepad only game.
