Fingers crossed.
I'd laugh if their Android based devices ends up selling like hot & fresh muffins at a christmas sale compared to their Windows based devices.
Don't get your hopes up, The Verge confirmed it's a "distribution" of Android just like Kindle Fire OS is
As long as it's not Windows 8 I am still interested
Don't get your hopes up, The Verge confirmed it's a "distribution" of Android just like Kindle Fire OS is
At least it should be compatible unless they go double plus retard.
At least it should be compatible unless they go double plus retard.
I'll give it less than a week after it's being sold to the public before someone releases a "hack" that turns the Android version into something AOSP equivalent with Google Play bundled.
Don't get your hopes up, The Verge confirmed it's a "distribution" of Android just like Kindle Fire OS is
Cyanogen yay
Cyanogen yay
Doesn't even have to be a whole new install, could easily be a script that uses a exploit to gain root access and then turn the OS on it into AOSP equivalent godness instead of manufacture 'tardiness. Then you'd also preserve most of your data and settings.
Don't get your hopes up, The Verge confirmed it's a "distribution" of Android just like Kindle Fire OS is
as if anybody actually uses stock oem android roms now
Don't get your hopes up, The Verge confirmed it's a "distribution" of Android just like Kindle Fire OS is
Pah. That just means that the dev community has a small project on their hands.
Lumia 1520 Google Play edition now pls.
and it will be a dual core phone running android 4.2
It doesn't matter in the slightest to me if it's not stock Android and ends up being something like Kindle Fire OS. Being Android based means it's Android compatible, which means custom ROMs like CyanogenMod once it is rooted.
and it will be a dual core phone running android 4.2
And to those who's inevitably gonna complain about it not being a dodecacore hyperphone with more RAM than the servers hosting Facepunch combined, read the OP ffs.
Id take windows phone over android any day. Glad i left that laggy and slow os, unstable os.
Wait, why do you guys hate Windows Phone?
Id take windows phone over android any day. Glad i left that laggy and slow os, unstable os.
What version did you have? I had an android phone running 2.4.3 and that was laggy and unstable but with 4.1+ they've considerably fixed the shit out of it.
What version did you have? I had an android phone running 2.4.3 and that was laggy and unstable but with 4.1+ they've considerably fixed the shit out of it.
Pretty much this, any version of android under 4 is a piece of shit
Please rerelease the 5200 or the 1100 with modern hardware, nokia
Wait, why do you guys hate Windows Phone?
muh apps/muh custom roms
Wait, why do you guys hate Windows Phone?
Glorified and gimped phone vs hyper flexible smartphone. Gee guess why.
You guys are completely missing the fact that this is for their Asha phones. AKA, the $30-$80 dumbphones or psudo-smartphones that are extremely popular in lower income countries. Android running on these will likely be just using it as a base for a dumbphone Nokia Microsoft (aka the main branch of nokia that is going to be acquired by MS) is still WP8 exclusive for their main smartphones.
Stop comparing Android to WP and start comparing it to Symbian because that's the league it's competing in, as far as this device goes
What version did you have? It's so much better these days.
Stop comparing Android to WP and start comparing it to Symbian because that's the league it's competing in, as far as this device goes
We all know Sybian is more versatile than WP8.
as if anybody actually uses stock oem android roms now
I do. Nexus 4.
Glorified and gimped phone vs hyper flexible smartphone. Gee guess why.
Difficult unoptimized hacker OS vs simple and fast OS with an innovative design. Two can play at this game. Just because that OS is not aimed at the people who like jailbreaking their devices doesn't mean that it's not a valid option. [editline]27th December 2013[/editline]
We all know Sybian is more versatile than WP8.
Well, considering that Nokia was planning to replace Symbian with Meego/Maemo even before they started using Windows...
as if anybody actually uses stock oem android roms now
Yeah a whole 95% of people who get an android. Such a low number.
as if anybody actually uses stock oem android roms now
In my entire life I have met two people that used custom ROMs on their Androids, and it was because I installed them on their phones when they asked me for help.

Open Source has won, Microsoft isn't doing themselves any favour with Windows Phone and they're the only ones left with any real stake in it.

The reason why Android has the largest market share is because it's free and is installed on every damn crapphone out there. WinPhone is the newest OS, and AFAIK it's been growing quite fast this year (although it's all because of that cheap Lumia).
