How to tell a girl-friend that you like her without loosing her? - General

So i have this girl i like as friend in college. We are in the same class, and we talk a lot. The point is that i really like this girl and want to get together with her, but i think she only wants me as a friend or she doesn't know i like her. We have been friends since the start of college (last August). She's single as i know, and so far i haven't been romantic or however you call it towards her yet. How can i tell her i like her without being dumb or losing her as friend?. But i'm afraid she won't be my friend again after we break up.

Most girls wouldn't hate you if you tried to ask them out, and was denied. They would most likely conclude it with "I think we are better if we stay as friends instead"

If you really are as close to her as you claim to be, you'd have to fuck up pretty badly before you lose her as a friend. Just ask her for a talk in private and just tell her straight up, be yourself. If you are such good friends, she won't make a big deal about it.
