• Don't buy ink, buy printers!

So today I was trying to print up my essay for a class on monday when my printer chirped and told me it was out of ink. Perturbed, I went down to target to look at printer ink. When I got there I was browsing the shelves in the electronic section until I found the right ink and I was about to walk out when I saw that a new HP printer cost less than the ink. So I decided to by a printer instead of the ink because its easy to remove the ink and then I can resell the printer to someone. Decided to check the printer/ink cost when I got home. Here is a picture and a link. Here is the ink:http://bit.ly/i2hAuK Here is the printer:http://bit.ly/epJ4Y9 the replacement cartridges are MORE than the actual printers. So next time you go to buy ink from a store look at printers, you may even be able to sell the old ones! TL;DR printers cost less than ink.
That's why you refill the ink yourself. Just buy the cartridges that can be opened easily.
Why the hell is ink so expensive
Why the hell is ink so expensive
Yeah seriously, fuck fighting over oil, printer ink is where the money is!
Why the hell is ink so expensive
Because companies are spending tons of money to find out how to make ink less expensive. :downs:
Someone has to post that one comparison chart between cost of printer ink and cost of oil.

I can see someone trying to trade blood for ink.
If China had magic ink wells the U.S would invade them.
[img_thumb]http://www.freshbooks.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2006/11/hp-ink-cost.JPG[/img_thumb] :pseudo:
That is fucking pathetic. If you drink bottled water you're brain dead and you are the cause of many of today's modern problems. You should feel fucking ashamed.
I can see someone trying to trade blood for ink.
Or just use blood for ink? Cheaper, practically unlimited source of it and it's pretty much the same except red :v:
[img_thumb]http://www.freshbooks.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2006/11/hp-ink-cost.JPG[/img_thumb] :pseudo:
I guess we should be glad we aren't filling out gas tanks with ink.
That is fucking pathetic. If you drink bottled water you're brain dead and you are the cause of many of today's modern problems. You should feel fucking ashamed.
Bottled water is pretty pointless but I wouldn't go that far.
I tried refilling my HP 74 cartridge a lot of times... either I didn't do it right or the damn printer knows it and intentionally messes with you :arghfist::saddowns:
I guess I could buy a new printer every time I needed ink and just sell the inkless printer. It'd be raiiiining money
You'll all be sorry when I have 20 printers just laying around.
Ink costs more than bull semen irc.
What the fuck is in printer ink that makes it so expensive? My printer can only print In pink because I can't get a black ink cartridge. And once I got a black cartridge and the printer still printed pink. I think my printer is :downs: [editline]22nd January 2011[/editline] Also what's "3M PF-5030"?
Don't they have these cartridge refillers at OfficeMax?
That is fucking pathetic. If you drink bottled water you're brain dead and you are the cause of many of today's modern problems. You should feel fucking ashamed.
I just drank a bottle of water at Universal Studios. Couldn't find a recycling bin either..
Get one of those printers that uses that really cheap ink from HP. It's like 10 bucks for a cartridge of black.
Don't they have these cartridge refillers at OfficeMax?
I used to work at Officemax and one part of my job was refilling cartridges. Don't get your cartridges refilled or do it yourself, the cartridge and ink will never work as well as the original stuff from the manufacturer. Believe me, we had complaints daily about refilled cartridges not working. As for why printers are cheaper than ink, there's two things I can say about that. First, only a select few budget printers (usually on sale) are actually cheaper than buying replacement cartridges, and second, printer manufacturers and retail stores (like Officemax) sell the printers almost at a loss knowing they will make up the difference by selling replacement cartridges. Many of the models we sold at Officemax would have been a bad sale if it weren't for the accessories we were forced to peddle along with them. My best recommendation is to consider paying a little extra for a laser printer; the replacement toner cartridges are much more expensive than their inkjet counterparts but last much longer. The $/page is what really matters, and in most cases a decent laser printer will be cheaper to operate than an inkjet printer.
That is fucking pathetic. If you drink bottled water you're brain dead and you are the cause of many of today's modern problems. You should feel fucking ashamed.
This man has dedicated his life to fighting the scourge of bottled water
That is fucking pathetic. If you drink bottled water you're brain dead and you are the cause of many of today's modern problems. I reuse each bottle until I lose it.
I say we should forget about the dollar, the Euro, the Yen, the won, the dong or whatever and bring on the new currency: Expensive liquids. A Big Mac, medium Dr. Pepper and small fries, right? That'll be four mL of printer ink. [editline]edit[/editline] Uhh, excuse me sir? You seem to have spilled some money on the floor over there. We'll need straws to salvage it.

It's not cheaper because the cartridges that come with the printer are usually not full. You should be getting a laser printer anyways since you won't encounter nearly as many problems as with inkjet printers.
You'll all be sorry when I have 20 printers just laying around.
You'll be able to start the render-farm equivalent for printers!
