Green Day is an American punk rock band formed in 1987. The band has consisted of lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool for the majority of its existence.

39/Smooth (Now known as 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours)

1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours is a collection of early recordings. It was released on July 1, 1991 through Lookout! Records. Often referred to as the band's first album, the compilation combines their debut album 39/Smooth and their first two EPs Slappy and 1,000 Hours.

Kerplunk! : Kerplunk is the second studio album by the American punk rock band Green Day. It was released on January 17, 1992 through Lookout! Records. Kerplunk was their last release on an independent label and was also the first album to feature their current band lineup, with Tré Cool on drums. The album has gone on to be among the best selling independently released albums of all time. Major labels took notice of Kerplunk's phenomenal popularity and many approached the band.

Dookie : Dookie is the third studio album by the American punk rock band Green Day. It was released on February 1, 1994 through Reprise Records. It was the band's first collaboration with producer Rob Cavallo and their major label debut. Dookie became a worldwide commercial success, reaching number two on the U.S. Billboard 200 and charting in seven countries. The album helped to propel Green Day into mainstream popularity.

Insomniac : Insomniac is the fourth studio album by the American punk rock band Green Day. It was released on October 10, 1995 through Reprise Records. Though it reached number two in the United States and went 2x platinum (According to the RIAA) by 1996. Insomniac did not have the sales endurance of its predecessor, Dookie, largely due to its slightly darker lyrical tone and heavier, more abrasive sound.

Nimrod : Nimrod is the fifth studio album by the American punk rock band Green Day. It was released through Reprise Records on October 14, 1997. The album entered the Billboard U.S. charts at #10, and achieved double platinum status, although it did not revive Green Day's sales to the level of Dookie. Nimrod achieved critical respect and yielded the acoustic hit "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)". The album was released in Europe as an HDCD. It is the band's fourth best-selling album (behind Dookie, American Idiot, and Insomniac) with a sale success of 2,083,000 copies sold in the US alone and over 6 million worldwide

Warning : Warning is the sixth studio album by the American punk rock band Green Day. It was released through Reprise Records on October 3, 2000. 21'st Century Breakdown : 21st Century Breakdown is the eighth studio album by the American punk rock band Green Day. It is the band's second rock opera, following American Idiot, and their first album to be produced by Butch Vig. Green Day commenced work on the record in January 2006. 45 songs were written by singer and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong by October 2007, but the band members did not enter studio work with Vig until January 2008. The writing and recording process spanned three years and four California recording studios and was finished in April 2009.

I'll be honest, Green Day is a good band, mainly their old stuff, but I can't really listen to their new stuff without cringing. And MOST of their younger fans are annoying as hell.

Yeah, It feels more like a cheeky pop rock album with swear words then a rock opera to me, like I said. I can't really listen to Green Day's new stuff without cringing a little.

I think it's time Green Day admitted the fact that they just can't write good Concept albums/Rock Operas.

Yes. American Idiot was alright, but I really can't stand ANY of the singles on that album. Except Jesus Of Surburbia, witch is a good song.
