MANCHESTER, England -- Manchester City won the English title for the first time in 44 years, surging past Queens Park Rangers 3-2 on Sunday with Sergio Aguero scoring his team's second goal during stoppage time. Aguero's goal in the fourth minute of injury time snatched the trophy from defending champion Manchester United on goal difference. United had been top when its game at Sunderland ended in a 1-0 win. United's players left the field in Sunderland with shell-shocked expressions, while the fans looked at each other in disbelief and stood with hands on heads in a stunned silence. This was the first time the English title was decided on tiebreaker since 1989, when Arsenal and Liverpool were even on points and goal difference, and the Gunners won on total goals. Pablo Zabaleta had put City on course for the title with a 39th-minute goal, but Djibril Cisse evened for QPR three minutes into the second half. City had a man advantage after QPR captain Joey Barton was sent off in the 55th, but Jamie Mackie managed to put the visitors in front on a header. City's expensively assembled squad had been facing its first loss at home since December 2010, but substitute Edin Dzeko sparked the recovery by heading in a corner kick in the second minute of stoppage time. There was still time for one final moment of drama in an unpredictable season when Aguero drove home the winner. As the final whistle blew, thousands of City fans poured onto the field and blue smoke wafted around the stadium. Winning the title is the result of more than a $1 billion of investment by Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Mansour, who rescued a financially stricken club from ousted Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra in 2008.
You mean "Manchester City buy English Premier League title!!!!!"
United are the ones that screwed up an 8 point lead weeks ago.
Joey Barton should be banned for a significant amount of time after his antics today.
Good for them now all the man u tards will be crying.
At least Arsenal came 3rd...
Man City deserved the title this season great game by them too.
At least Arsenal came 3rd...
Happy St. Totteringhams Day!
Congratulations to a bunch of people running around kicking a ball and getting paid too much.
Fantastic game, one of my mates walked out of the pub at 2-2 hah we need a sports forum :<
Such a close last day of premier league, it wouldn't have been as close if tevez was playing for the full season though.
Stunning game. Never seen anything quite like it. Congratulations to Man City, deserved winners.
Moments like these make me glad I'm a soccer fan.
United fan here. It's was a close race and City deserved it. Well done.
the match killed me, it was so stressful was so happy when Zabaleta scored and then the start of the second period after the two goals I had basically given up specially when they took out Tevez (my bby <3) and then Aguero (my other bby <3) saved everything and brought so much joy to me. Anyways imo they deserved the win and I am happy for City :)
Congrats i still hate Mancini and Balotelli though...
I'm just excited for the Champion's League final next week. GO BAYERN!
Congrats i still hate Mancini and Balotelli though...
Balotelli is one hell of an asshole.

I caught the match at the very end, I couldn't believe the comback; what a brilliant game!
Balotelli is one hell of an asshole.
Well for me it's up and down, sometimes he's just brilliant but then a couple of weeks later he becomes a massive cock. A real badass though.

Either way since when is a football team winning a league worthy of a SH thread, especially one with three exclamation points?
The point he's making is that most of these players make more in a year what the worlds greatest scientists, teachers and engineers will make in a life time.
So do actors and singers, though.
The difference is that footballers are actually assets that earn clubs millions. No, seriously. There's a packet to be made in shirt sales, ticket sales, promotional events, not to mention the money made from gaining Champions League qualification. More money > better players + trophies > even more money. It's simple economics in the footballing world.
I think people are too quick to judge Balotelli, he hasn't had the best of backgrounds with being raised a poor orphan not acting "civilized" and not having much, then suddenly getting thrown into the spot light were people are telling him what to do and all the other stuff that comes with the fame. He is still very young and I don't think he was well prepared for the situation he is in.
