Almost two in every three voters (61 per cent) believe Mrs May would make the most capable Prime Minister compared with about one in four (23 per cent) who said Mr Corbyn. Mrs May’s score of 61 per cent is the highest recorded by the polling company Ipsos Mori since it started asking the question in 1979. Meanwhile, a separate poll conducted by YouGov shows that with just six weeks to go until June 8 Mr Corbyn has a net favourability rating of minus 42 - his all time low. Nearly two thirds of people now have an unfavourable view of the Labour leader compared to just 22 per cent who hold a favourable view. Mr Corbyn has a net negative rating in every demographic group, according to the poll. However, despite Mr Corbyn’s performance he is not bottom of the favourability rankings with Paul Nuttall, the Ukip leader, on minus 43. Mrs May came top of the chart with a favourability rating of plus 10.
I don't know if that says more about Theresa May or more about British political leaders in general since the 1970s.
but how?
If this is to be believed--and at risk of getting ahead of myself--it looks like that snap election may have been a good call after all.
but how?
The same reason for all of our current problems. Because most people are fucking morons who don't remember anything besides who won last night's football game.
but how?
Maybe cult of personality
I want to get off theresa mays wild ride.
If this is to be believed--and at risk of getting ahead of myself--it looks like that snap election may have been a good call after all.
The moment she announced it I thought "lol, more like snap execution of the labour party." It's a damn evil call though.
Fix this pls
It's like if cows were suddenly trained to go to slaughter houses by themselves.
Theresa may isn't more popular than every previous leader, in fact she's a pretty mediocre politician who's strolled through uncontested Tory elections into facing no opposition from opposing leaders so when it comes to who's the best option for next prime minister then she's not got a hard task to win.
but how?
i think its less "theresa may is very popular", but more "everyone else is incredibly unpopular"
Maybe cult of personality
What cult of personality? Who are these people who like Theresa Mayhem? Even the papers are slamming her and the only ones that don't are only saying how she is ahead of the polls over Corbyn.
Maybe cult of personality
I don't think so. She's not like Trump. She doesn't have any defining characteristics or policies, other than just Brexit and being old. People are just liking her because the current situation of politics in the UK, as I can see it, is a shitshow, and people are just regressing to whatever is the most "comfortable".
She probably has the same rating and popularity as John Major.
No-one asked me...
I don't think there has been a Prime Minister in my life that I dislike more than May.
I don't think there has been a Prime Minister in my life that I dislike more than May.
It's either her or Cameon for me. One took the brakes off, the other kept driving.
If this is to be believed--and at risk of getting ahead of myself--it looks like that snap election may have been a good call after all.
politically yes, precedent setting no because anytime a PM thinks they can improve their count they'll just call elections.
but how?
A very great number of old people.
but how?
Because barely anyone likes Corbyn, and he refused to step down when Labour MPs overwhelmingly passed a motion of no confidence against him. The death of the Labour Party isn't because of May, or Blairites or Tory-lites. It's the moron in charge. Theresa May and the Conservatives are polling so highly probably because they actually look competent compared to the Labour Party.
I don't know if that says more about Theresa May or more about British political leaders in general since the 1970s.
Maybe it says a lot about the media in the UK
politically yes, precedent setting no because anytime a PM thinks they can improve their count they'll just call elections.
I don't know why people are having a problem with this snap election. Everyone was screaming that there should be another general election after May replaced Cameron because 'no one voted for May', and everyone was also screaming that their should be another vote on Brexit. Well here you go. A vote for/against Theresa May, and assuming Labour, Lib Dems and SNP decided to adopt a pro-remain stance, a vote for/against Brexit.

lmao this new is fake as fuck Comrade Corbyn has the support of basically every worker in the UK. they probably only polled the type of person who would be on the heritage committee in their local village
but how?
Because Jeremy Corbyn is as charismatic as a wet flannel.
considering labour is not pro-remain, it absolutely isn't a vote for or against brexit the only "major" party that is anti-leave in English politics is the Lib Dems, and they're the Lib Dems
And they've shifted to an "Anti-Hard Brexit" stance in the past few weeks which is clearly positioning themselves to coalition with the Tories if they get the opportunity, so not even they count. Only actively remain party is the SNP, and potentially the Greens, but neither of those are significant in the broader tapestry of UK politics.
Well we can allow them to be of greater prominence... I ain't sayin' we can make 'em clean sweep any general election, but if you don't vote for who you want then that's kind of undermining the democratic process a bit...
Well we can allow them to be of greater prominence...
In theory: yes In practicality: no
I ain't sayin' we can make 'em clean sweep any general election, but if you don't vote for who you want then that's kind of undermining the democratic process a bit...
Na Democracy can be about compromise and pragmatism. It's unlikely you'll get exactly what you want (unless you are presently some tory old boy type) so you have to settle on the next best thing. Voting for a nobody and getting none of your views represented is "worse" than voting for someone who holds some of your views.
