(CBS/AP) The owner of a Seattle, Wash., convenience store says the man who robbed him at gunpoint was polite. Shell station owner John Henry told the police that the man bought a cup of coffee and then asked for a favor - empty the till. When Henry asked what he meant, the man said, "I'm robbing you, sir." Henry offered him $40, but the man took all the money, about $300, apologizing and saying that he had bills to pay and children to feed. As he left, the robber said that if he ever got back on his feet, he'd pay the money back. Surveillance video shows the man, who appeared to be in his fifties, driving off in a red car. He left fingerprints and video evidence that King County sheriff's detectives are using to look for him.
:unsmith: I really hope that this robber gets a better life Source
Possibly getting locked up in jail for life.
I remember in my town in the 80's there was a highwayman, an actual one that stopped cars and said stand and deliver, they never caught him and it has become a sort of local legend.
Possibly getting locked up in jail for life.
for stealing $300?
Possibly getting locked up in jail for life.
There is no way in hell he is getting locked up for life for stealing $300
I hope they catch him and get the money back.
There is no way in hell he is getting locked up for life for stealing $300
They'll figure something out.
Probably 6 months to a year in prison. Times are tough, I feel bad that he had to do that.
I have allways wanted to do something like for some reason.
He has a car and he's robbing people?
He has a car and he's robbing people?
Apparently you don't understand unexpected financial ruin.
I'm not sure how to feel about this.
I'm sorry sir, I'm just going to have to behead you, you see. Don't worry though, if I find a way to reattach your head I'll come and fix it back on!

Desperate times call for desperate measures, God's luck if that man really does get on his feet and repays this.
or he was just pretending so that the shop owner wouldn't report the 'poor guy' to the cops right
Very good point. I hope it is true though, and I really hope sometime soon we hear another story of the robber giving the money back :unsmith:
We think of robbers as scary evil dudes, but in reality most of them are like this
We think of robbers as scary evil dudes, but in reality most of them are like this
Or douchebags who can't hold a job because of a criminal record.
Or douchebags who can't hold a job because of a criminal record.
or people who just want an extra buck
I'm sorry sir, I'm just going to have to behead you, you see. Don't worry though, if I find a way to reattach your head I'll come and fix it back on!
You can't replace a head, you can replace money.
The problem isn't the pety theft... It's the use of a gun. In many states, pulling a gun results in 5 years, and pointing it at someone results in 15 and firing it results in a long long time.

he was arrested and apparently has committed armed robbery before
he was arrested and apparently has committed armed robbery before
Yeah, what a great guy, just trying to feed his family and all. Apparently nobody noticed that the gas station owner needs to feed his family to.
Isn't this kind of thing fully covered by insurance I'm not condoning it but I don't think the owner will physically lose any money here
What if he doesn't have insurance?
for stealing $300?
I think armed robbery is considered a serious offense.
