If I don't want a completed torrent to seed, what do I do?

I'm not particularly computer savvy. I think I heard someone tell me that when you finish downloading a torrent, you start to seed it. Is there a way to stop it? I can't seed on this network, so after it finishes I need to delete any traces, or stop it from uploading anything. How would I go about doing this?
remove it from the list.
Remove data + torrent data.
I have no idea how to do that. First time using BitTorrent. What do I do?
Utorrent can only upload 1KB/s minimum. You can't completely stop it unless you remove it. You may have already been seeding while downloading.
(what client were you using? are there clients that can completely stop it while downloading?)
Or set your upload speed to 0kb/s.
Why are a lot of people posting this shit in the GD?
Goto the fucking Hardware/software discussion.
:sigh:

In uTorrent that makes it unlimited ;)... just seed OP, your helping other people set the upload speed to 1kb/s and your still helping.
I'm using...uh. BitTornado, I believe. I just can't be seeding the file. If I need to just uninstall the program, then I will. Is there an easier way to do it, though? My network...really does not want seeding.
And for the guy above me, I'd help if I was in a state to do so, but I really can't be seeding.
[sp]Once done, extract the file elsewhere (Like your desktop) then right click on the file and find something saying "Remove .torrent + Torrent Data" or "Remove File". If the file is still on your list, right click it and click "Stop". Then it should be alright.[/sp]
And anyway, what's so secretive that nobody can know about it? Planning terrorism are we?
Reason for spoiler tags is because if you are, I don't want to be called an accomplice. :tinfoil:

It's not that it's secretive. Universities just get pissed when you seed. Plus, keeping my computer on for long periods of time is rather annoying.
Well then just download, do what I said, and use whatever it was you downloaded.
It was not wares, it was not terrorism, this discuission never happened.
Use uTorrent, it's probally the best if your going to use torrents. Anyway with your problem you will likely have to uninstall the program or find the .torrent file and delete it. That is if the above ways don't help.
Bit torrent sucks. Use Transmission.
uTorrent is also a great torrent program.
Press stop when it's finished. That stops it from seeding.
Um warez? wtf?
Um warez? wtf?
He's downloading Linux distros.
Just sayin. If I get banned for this kinda shit then........
Cuz torrents = warez
I know what it is. And I got banned for posting this kind of stuff so the rules should apply to everybody in here.
Torrents aren't necessarily warez. They are just a different way of transferring files than classic upload/download. They're used for warez quite often, however.
Torrents aren't Warez, Garrymod.org used torrents a little bit ago.
Mine stops pretty much straight away.

I was being sarcastic.
Torrents are about as legal as streaming media or downloading stuff off of rapidshare. The preceding is up to you to decipher whether it's legal or not.
Click torrent, click stop.
Works on µTorrent.
OP, mind telling us what you are downloading just for the sake of it?
If I pause the current torrent and download uTorrent, can I pick it back up from where I left off?

Yes, you can
