Just a few months ago, the BBC launched Instafax, an experiment in short-form news delivered via Instagram. Now its attentions have turned to Reddit, which is hardly surprising given the huge number of visitors the site receives – last month alone it had around 113 million visits.
Source r/BBCWorld
As long as it doesn't pave the way to company subreddits its cool last thing i want to see for example is a game company owned Subreddit for their game where they ban anyone who says something negative about it.
As long as it doesn't pave the way to company subreddits its cool
Too late.
this is truly bizarre. could anyone have predicted this?
this is truly bizarre. could anyone have predicted this?
Makes sense really. reddit is huge, the BBC will almost certainly get some heavy viewership from this, from people who may not check the Beeb's website but do check reddit [editline]24th June 2014[/editline] How long until CNN has a subforum here is the real question
Does that mean we're officially better than Reddit? (we had news posts from them before this)
Does that mean we're officially better than Reddit? (we had news posts from them before this)
They had them there for ages too...

"Church burnt down, users of our reddit channel suspected"

Eagerly awaiting the Fox News subreddit
The post that explains it seems to make sense, from what I can work out a bunch of BBC tech people were not happy not seeing a lot of BBC news on reddit so they decided to improve it. Wonder how it goes..
As long as it doesn't pave the way to company subreddits its cool last thing i want to see for example is a game company owned Subreddit for their game where they ban anyone who says something negative about it.
The sub reddit for the game Nether is run by the developers I believe. Saw a thread about it today that they deleted some guys post about the game being finished but not delivering on what they said.
As long as it doesn't pave the way to company subreddits its cool last thing i want to see for example is a game company owned Subreddit for their game where they ban anyone who says something negative about it.
This has already happened, like r/smite.
Considering how much the BBC currently loves self-flagellation, I reckon negative comments being suppressed is probably unlikely.
As long as it doesn't pave the way to company subreddits its cool last thing i want to see for example is a game company owned Subreddit for their game where they ban anyone who says something negative about it.
It's been a thing for a long time, doesn't twitch have an official subreddit?
Official r/foxnews, bring it.
Official r/foxnews, bring it.
That'd be a laugh. I'm fairly certain most fox views don't know what reddit is, and those that do probably hate reddit for being too librul.
As long as it doesn't pave the way to company subreddits its cool last thing i want to see for example is a game company owned Subreddit for their game where they ban anyone who says something negative about it.
Loads of devs, indie and large scale have subreddits moderated by them for their games. The indie ones tend to be lax about banning negativity because its usually the community that do it for them like mindless drones.
As long as it doesn't pave the way to company subreddits its cool last thing i want to see for example is a game company owned Subreddit for their game where they ban anyone who says something negative about it.
Oh, you mean like Steam forums?
As long as it doesn't pave the way to company subreddits its cool last thing i want to see for example is a game company owned Subreddit for their game where they ban anyone who says something negative about it.
How is that any different from evil_game_company owning a forum on their official page where they ban anyone who says something negative about it? I'm fairly sure they'd get the same shit in both places.
Good job being a government-sponsored news outlet using a website whose admins support child pornography to post their articles.
What?
As long as it doesn't pave the way to company subreddits its cool last thing i want to see for example is a game company owned Subreddit for their game where they ban anyone who says something negative about it.
/r/runescape frequently hellbans users that criticize the shitty microtransactions they force in to the game. Jagex essentially owns the subreddit and has the mods in their pocket.
its called shadowbanning on reddit and only the reddit admins can do that, no subreddit mods can do that
I am pretty sure subreddit mods can hellban people from their own subreddit - not the entire site.
Mods lose their shit all the time.. look at /r/science /r/gaming or /r/technology /r/adviceanimals They all have had their fallouts
/r/trees exists because the mods of /r/marijuana lost there shit.
I am pretty sure subreddit mods can hellban people from their own subreddit - not the entire site.
I mod a subreddit, and no, you can't. Only ban people from the subreddit.
As long as it doesn't pave the way to company subreddits its cool last thing i want to see for example is a game company owned Subreddit for their game where they ban anyone who says something negative about it.
You're going to be seriously disappointed in the league of legends sub reddit
