The proposal would hold manufacturers of firearms, as well as sellers, responsible for crimes committed with those guns. The measure apparently conflicts with an existing federal law, but Democrats in the state reportedly say they want to get that federal law repealed.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/02/07/colorado-democrats-want-gun-sellers-manufacturers-held-liable-for-crimes/ Next up, sue drug companies for overdose deaths. Chicken farmers for bone-related choking deaths? Etc.
Sue ford for traffic accidents.
there are many stupid people on this planet. colorado has some for politicians.
The fact that these people 'lose' 500,000 firearms every year, then yes they need to be held more accountable.
I would go ahead and sue the earth. Without the earth, those gun companies wouldn't have popped up. Then we wouldn't have died due to gunshots. There is no way this is going to go into effect.
People in this thread are knee-jerk stupid. Its designed to hold people more accountable when they're irresponsible with who and how they provide firearms to people.

The people "losing" these weapons should definitely be held accountable for losing them but they can't be held responsible for what's done with them afterwards. When a product is sold it becomes the property and responsibility of the person it's sold to.
sue mcdonalds for making people fat oh wait
I remember watching supersize me explaining the courts decision that they had to prove Mcdonalds wanted/implied for their customers to eat their meal everyday until they got really unhealthy and fat So if we drag this into gun companies, unless the court can prove gun companies want people to use their weapons for the WRONG reasons then they're liable for law suits
Reminds me of the movie Runaway Jury
Sue ford for traffic accidents.
Better yet, I'll go beat someone to death with a hammer, then sue DeWalt for making the hammer that killed them! And while I'm at it I'll sue Home Depot for selling the hammer, and Honda for building the car I used to take the hammer home in, and even BP for selling the gas to fuel that car!
Arrest the Murders parents Same logic
People in this thread are knee-jerk stupid. Its designed to hold people more accountable when they're irresponsible with who and how they provide firearms to people.
Gun manufactures sell to stores in bulk. After it's at the store the manufacture has no responsibility or control about who buys the gun. That responsibility gets put on the salesmen who should be accountable for selling weapons to the wrong hands. What gun manufacturers should be held accountable for is better inventory management so that thousands of guns don't "go missing" each year. But they should not be held accountable for the crimes committed with their guns.
Don't most thugs buy taiwanese firearms? The companies cant really be sued by the US
People in this thread are knee-jerk stupid. Its designed to hold people more accountable when they're irresponsible with who and how they provide firearms to people.
Don't gun manufacturers only sell to stores?
I think you're being a bit narrow minded here. How do we know that this isn't just a law to intentionally harm the firearms industry and gun owners? If everyone in the chain of supply was held accountable gun owners and manufacturers would be "responsible" for thousands of deaths. This could make gun manufacturers and private sellers afraid to sell, this could put people right out of business.
I too like to base my entire argument on a one sentence stub explanation based on a badly wrote Fox News view of the situation :downs: [editline]7th February 2013[/editline]
Don't gun manufacturers only sell to stores?
Funny, how the largest lobby in America suddenly isn't accountable - at all.
Sue God, he created mankind which created guns.
No, sue science, THEN sue God for inventing science.
Funny, how the largest lobby in America suddenly isn't accountable, at all.
What?
Funny, how the largest lobby in America suddenly isn't accountable - at all.
Uuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhh

On the slim chance this bill got signed into state law, the fed law would trump it and it would be oveturned.
Sue God, he created mankind which created guns.
Billy Connolly already did that.
Funny, how the largest lobby in America suddenly isn't accountable - at all.
And the fuck do you mean by this then?
And the fuck do you mean by this then?
He seems to think that gun manufacturers lobby Congress to allow them to sell guns to anybody without following federal law, and that they should be held responsible for the fictional consequences.
People in this thread are knee-jerk stupid. Like OvB said, then Ford should be responsible for car accidents, Bic for cheating, HP for cyber crime, et cetera. It's a bill that rides on emotion that fucks over an industry because lawmakers don't like the product they're making.
This is about as stupid as suing the airliners for getting sick on a flight.
It is not the responsibility of the manufacture to ensure that people use their products properly. Bud Light doesn't get sued when someone gets drunk off their beer and kills someone in a drunk driving crash.
Sue your plumber if you drown.
sue mcdonalds for making people fat oh wait
Even though i think it's completely ridculous that people do this, after writing like 3 papers on the subject and reading a lot about it, this has more substance than this bill because McDonald's marketed itself to be almost a replacement for home cooking and that their food could be eaten everyday. Obviously if you have any sense you'd know that that is completely idiotic to do but people are idiots. It's still completely stupid that people sue for it though.
I'm suing the whole of the United States for having an economic crisis and ruining my life. Seriously though, this is fucking stupid.
