Bulletstorm ----NOT---- to use a DRM system similiar to Assassin's Creed 2
Fans of PC DRM have something to celebrate today, with news that Bulletstorm will demand a constant online connection in order to be played. More like Bullshitstorm, right guys?
It seems Electronic Arts is going to "pull an Ubisoft" while "protecting" People Can Fly's ludicrous shooter from common thieves. The news comes from EA's own product disclosure page, where it states, "PERSISTENT INTERNET CONNECTION AND ACCEPTANCE OF END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT REQUIRED TO PLAY."
You'll also be thrilled to know that the game (which already snubbed the PC by not releasing a demo outside of consoles) demands use of Games For Windows Live, better known as the worst thing to happen to PC gamers since carpal tunnel syndrome.
PC gaming. You have to love it.
IMPORTANT EDIT: THIS IS INCORRECT. READ THE SOURCE FOR MORE INFORMATION.
Wow, fuck off EA.
I may not be the king, but EA needs to royally fuck off.
Not this shit again.
This'll end with people pirating it instead of buying it, just to spite EA.
Aw fuck.
GFWL and this?
Guess I won't buy this game then.
And they say pirating is bad. DRM is not the way to fight piracy. People will simply find a way to bypass the whole checking system, just like they did with all the other games that required online activation on startup.
It's extremely short sighted: if they looked one month ahead of the release they would see an image of the game on the pirate bay.
I've never even heard of bulletstorm anyway. I'll look it up.
Fucking EA..stop ruining everything.
but i wanted to know how to speak train

Would be better if people just didn't pirate or buy it at all.
Go suck a big veiny dick, EA.
They just lost my sale. No matter how good a game is, but if your drm is retarded, I will not get it. Sorry.
Way to kick yourself in the ass, EA.
Oh no DRM I won't buy what is probably a good game because of it.
Really? It's bad and all but grow up. Plus pretty much the entire game is online based so does it really matter all that much?
Did they NOT fucking learn from Spore? The solution for piracy is not stricter DRM.
Hey, at least EA's getting better at providing for the community and helping them. Activision, on the other hand...
Remember when we kept saying EA was better than Activision?
now they're both as bad
wow.. how dare you EA.. first spore and now this...
you've ruined my life
i will no longer be a consumer of fine EA products
*throws away my copy of mass effect 2*
That is the final straw..

Is it just me or is the shitty DRM only on digital copies of the game.

I don't like it so I boycot it by actually not buying it. I know it won't change anything, but I am not supporting shitty drm with my money.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Something tells me this might just be a misunderstanding.

lets go burn down a gamestop to prove how serious we are!!

In the trailer I saw something that clearly looked like single player:

The problem is that people who are willing to pay the full price for the game and get fucked in the arse while the pirates go off and play the game offline.
You should not have to be watched by a company when you're playing their game.
Besides being forced to be online to play your own game, it's a privacy issue.
What data will they gather, will they upload information of your computer, any private information, will they log your playing time while you don't know about it etc.

I sure hope so.
lets go burn down a gamestop to prove how serious we are!!
How is that related?
Oh look, I was going to pre-order this game. Good job, EA :downs:
There's something that seems suggestive about how EA are going about their DRM. One day they're releasing it with stupid crap such as the OP has, and the next it's basic (or just Steam) DRM. Just makes me wonder whose calling the shots regarding this facade and why they keep doing it.
Goddamnit EA when will you learn
Good thing its not a very good game anyway
I don't like it so I boycot it by actually not buying it. I know it won't change anything, but I am not supporting shitty drm with my money.
You aren't supporting the DRM by buying it you are supporting the Developer. The way to oppose the DRM is to buy it, try it out for yourself and if at ANY point it's obstructive tell them. Complaining like a little bitch about every DRM method which MAY be required for them to help make profits is just childish.
"Oh no something in a game which doesn't affect the game in anyway at all but I don't like I am not buying"
Grow up
So what does this DRM stop? Common "thieves" sharing games with friends? Doesn't a cd-key check and online check for digital versions already take care of them? Because making DRM more strict won't stop people if they're willing to pirate it, it'll only stain legitimate copies of the game.
