hoping this game gives me nightmares like Doom 3 did.
Hey it's not completely yellow anymore!
The ending gave me day-mares, but it's so gory overall.
I live for this shit :D
Seeing more than three enemies on the screen in this trailer makes me more hopeful. With the earlier reveals, it didn't look as hectic as the classic titles. This makes me more optimistic for this one.
That triple vulcan cannon looked fucking sick.
The perfect DooM game for me would have dynamic gameplay that would change the speed of action according to your play style. Want to savor the frightening atmosphere, proceed slowly. Want to jump into classic action, do just that. One can dream.
wow that's pretty cool
this is like a fps version of dead space

Hopefully a lot less heavily scripted and QTE like Dead Space.
Its ID though, so we have nothing to worry about.
Damn, nine days before my birthday, I can get down with this.
I'm still really annoyed that the chainsaw grinds the gameplay to a halt everytime you kill an enemy as it plays a predefined animation for the kill.
The game looks good, but in my opinion it doesn't look like a game I want to play. Doom 3 was a great horror game, but this looks like a generic monster shooter. I know Doom 3 is not like the original and this is trying to capture gameplay from the original, but I'm not interested in this game as I thought I would be. I'll probably give it a try, but my expectations are low.
this is fucking sick as all hell, can't wait
also that baron reminds me a bit of Diablo imo
At least the revenant looks somewhat faithful to the originals.
I'll never get the trailers in where they just kill the main character at the end.

In this case they like making the demons seem more badass, and show off the apparent death animations if one of the monsters gets you.

Because they show the sick killmoves of you butchering monsters, they wanna show off the ways doomguy can get his shit wrecked, too :v:
I actually really like how the demons have their own killmoves, it makes death a little more interesting than losing all your health and just being kicked to the last save
I really like the player death animations, but those takedowns look like they take a little too long to me.

The e3 gameplay video was jam packed with those killanimations as well, kinda breakes the pacing
Hopefully you can disable the animations for fast gameplay or whatever.
like a couple other posters just mentioned, looks like they still don't understand that killmoves all the time is not good game design.
it kills pacing (we've seen this in actual footage) and you better believe the ooh-aah factor is gonna fade after the first couple hours of it.

i mean im glad there's some demographic that this appeals to, but it's clearly not the hardcore doom fanbase or the guys who were really really into doom 3.

More like the first 5 minutes
I'm pretty sure the kill animations are only triggered if you hit a melee button.

Hopefully they only do it when you actually die. Some games (RPG's are notorious) enemies will do a kill move when you are on low health and insta kill you, giving you no chance to actually survive and get your health back.
[QUOTE=No Party Hats;49671515]like a couple other posters just mentioned, looks like they still don't understand that killmoves all the time is not good game design.

They should add a kick, so when enemies go into the vulnerable "Use a killmove on me now" so that you can just kick them to finish them off quick. That way it's the player's choice to prolong the animation if they prefer.

It's Glory Kills. If an enemy is weakened and stumbling around in near-death, a little more damage puts them down, but you can go up and trigger a Glory Kill depending on positioning relative to the enemy (and the enemy themselves), goring them with your bare hands usually for extra health and ammo. Chainsaws can insta-kill most monsters, including the big ones, for a super Glory Kill and more rewards, but the bigger the enemy, the more ammunition fuel cells it costs for the Chainsaw.
Considering enemies can drop health and ammo normally from what I remember, you don't absolutely need to rely on them, but they're meant to be a way to keep you going in fights if your supplies get dangerously low.

But they've said they are optional.
Whether or not they properly reward you for kills without using killmoves remains to be seen, but we know they don't have to be used if you don't like them.
If the enemy executions are all the same (rip off one of your limbs, punch you in the face), it'll get old very fast.
Looks better than it did at E3, but the gameplay still stopped every 10 seconds to do a predefined animation killmove.
As cool as they look, it's going to get boring, and it's really not what dooms fast paced action was about.
