A historic time for offshore wind - first offshore wind turbine deployed off Maine.
The first offshore wind turbine in the U.S. was recently deployed off the coast of Maine. The pilot project uses a floating platform with a small wind turbine affixed to a tower. The project is a small, but significant step toward developing an abundant clean energy resource in the U.S.
Offshore winds are stronger and steadier than onshore winds and they blow during the day and in heat waves, when the demand for energy is the greatest. The East Coast is dubbed the "Saudi Arabia" of offshore wind, because there is enough offshore wind energy there to provide the entire U.S. with electricity, if it is fully developed.
With the full development of Solar, Tidal, and Wind, we could probably run everything.
The U.S. haven't done offshore wind before? We've been doing it here for what, 20 years?

Here's a wiki list of all of our offshore wind farms:

However, while we have not done offshore wind, we do have the most inland wind farms. In Texas of all places.

I'm an actual swede and that hurt me deeply :'(
I thought the poles of wind turbines caused too much vibrations to be put in water without affecting sealife

Would be great if you had Danish flag

You have my condolences.

I'm not sure but I would imagine floating platform turbines to make less noise than anchored ones on poles.
We recently opened up a windfarm in my small Michigan town, I went to a big bonfire right by the field. By about 5am and everyone was passing out you could constantly hear the whirrrrrrr in the distance.
At least they put the eyesores out to sea where nobody'll have to stare at 'em.

Wind turbines look awesome.

They look even more awesome when they fail
