The Jam were an English Punk Rock/Mod Revival group formed in 1972, by Paul Weller. Although formed in 1972, The Jam only released their first album - In The City - in 1977. The album charted in the UK at #20, and their first single (titled "In The City" as well) reached #20, the first of 18 consecutive charting singles for the band. Throughout their career, The Jam released six studio albums, as well as several non-album hit singles (such as "Going Underground" and "Beat Surrender"), all of which made it into the top #20 on the UK album charts. Their highest-charting release was their final album - The Gift - which reached #1. Basically this is my dad's favourite band of all time ever, and I like them enough to warrant making a thread about them. They're also one of these bands that never really took off in the U.S, so perhaps this thread will be able to introduce people to a band and their unique sound.
