Don't want to start a new thread, because this one is already here. what are they aiming to achieve?what are their goals? I suppose this will isolate thailand from the rest of the world for quite some time. One of their most important sources of revenue in tourism is gonna go dead, like in egypt. way to go...
Confirmed military seizure of power http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-27517591
Thailand's army chief has announced that the military is taking control of the government. In a televised statement, the army chief said the military would restore order and enact political reforms in the South-East Asian nation. The coup came after two days of inconclusive talks between the main political factions. Thailand has been in political turmoil for months. On Tuesday the army imposed martial law. A curfew has now been declared, effective across the country from 22:00 to 05:00 local time. Political party leaders were taken away from the talks venue after troops sealed off the area. The army is to send troops and vehicles to escort protesters away from rally sites, a senior army official told the Reuters news agency.
Lol 'No coup is happening.' [editline]22nd May 2014[/editline]
Here's the thing, the monarchy is still within their position, and the constitution has not been altered, however the caretaker government was overthrown to form a military supported organization called "National Peace and Order Maintaining Council (NPOMC)". So Thailand is in this weird stage of a coup.
but why?
but why?
Here's a simplistic overview of the situation. The military has declared a 'temporary suspension' of the constitution.

My friend went to Thailand a day after they declared martial law. I told him it would be a mistake going and that they would seize power, but the dumbass didn't listen. He's in Bangkok now in all of this mess and I can't get ahold of him. I'm worried and mad at him at the same time.
