• A Prequel to the movie "9"

If anyone here saw the movie by Shane Acker and Tim Burton called "9", then this is to you. During the movie, the war of humans and machines and the remaining countries and the events leading up to them was barely touched on. You saw maybe several seconds of footage at best. And yet these were drawn up: but I never once saw them in the movie. And from what I can tell, they had a pretty good story worked out for what happened before. Every other nation was economically crumbling, except for the one that 9 is set in, and the Chancellor (Basically the dictator) offers them the opportunity to join his nation, but they refuse, and he invades with his new army of robots constructed by the B.R.A.I.N. the scientist built. The Chancellor was corrupt, yet the masses rallied behind him because they were all unaware. As the war progressed, the machine was ordered to construct more and more machines at a faster rate, and eventually there was a malfunction and the robots now killed without prejudice. Once the masses discovered this, the Rebel faction was born and attempted to take out the machines, and eventually their headquarters. This failed of course, and that's where 9 begins. I think this would make a great movie in the style that was already going. Does anyone else agree a prequel should be made, showcasing these events?
Will it be called "8" or "8.9"?

9 sucked, why even bother with a prequel? I know, it's because it's Tim Burton and because people think "OMG HE THE ONE THAT MADE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS HE'S SO COOL!!!" they'll shovel in their money to the box office for him. Steve Burton is Tim Burtons evil twin. I blame him for the atrocity of this film.

He's made a lot of good movies, just check out his IMDB profile
I thought it was a good mindfuck style of movie. finding out what the fuck happened before "9" would be nice.

9 looked promising, but it was to generic or nonsensical at points. It was kind of like watching a Studio Ghibli film without the cool art style.
9 wasn't very good, but the silent movie it was based on was fucking brilliant. I highly recommend it if you've seen 9 or not. Just to clarify, 9 is based on a short by a student, which was picked up by Tim Burton, who frankly, ruined it. I'm a big fan of his work, but this is horrible. Nien.
Bahhh, I hated 9, waste of my 7.50$ even though it looked awesome in the trailer, i never once saw anything i liked put into play in the movie, characters flying left and right, jesus.
Burton didn't direct 9, same way as he didn't direct Nightmare Before Christmas (it was Henry Selick). Shane Acker who made the short also directed the movie. Although Burton co-wrote Nightmare, he didn't write 9 (acker and co-writer of Nightmare did). He did have a lot of style pushes towards Acker, but people need to remember that this isn't a Burton film. Remember, Timur Bekmambetov's name was also attached.

looks like the prequel to the movie had more storyline than the actual movie
tim burton is shit, the only good thing he did was edward scissorhands.

I went to see 9 first day it came out, disappointed.
Why? 9 sucked so bad! Biggest disappointment of 2009 that's for sure. [editline]12:35AM[/editline]
tim burton IS AWESOME, HIS GOOD MOVIES he did were edward scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Beetle Juice(cheesy but entertaining), Sweeny Todd, Big Fish, James and the Giant Peach, Coraline, and Sleepy Hollow
Fixed.
The only thing I ever cared for from Tim Burton was the first Batman movie. Everything else can suck emo dicks because that is all it ever attracts. Oh and Pee-wee's Big Adventure was p fun. :colbert:

Besides the fact that Burtons batman movies were travesties to the actual universe of batman(it was still entertaining), his regular movies are quite good. Just because they're "OMG DARK AND TWISTED" doesn't make them fucking emo. Nine wasn't his, he just attached his name to it. Tim Burton is one of the better directors out, though, he's getting a bit dated, and I almost hope Alice in Wonderland is his last movie, or if it's not, whatever is after is his true masterpiece.
:colbert:
No, sorry.
whatever is after is his true masterpiece.
Personal opinion but I thought The Nightmare before Christmas was his masterpiece.
Also, batman.
ye
You joined in 2009 :aaa:
You joined in 2006... Turn 6 around... And you have 9
9 was originally a short film, but due to some laziness of real movies they asked him to stretch it out to full length. If you the original short, it's tons better.
There's 3 posts about the 9 meme, if you duplicate this you will get 9 posts :aaaaa:
Tim Burton didn't direct 9, Shane Acker did (the guy who made the short film). And IMO the movie was amazing.
