A 26-year-old former employee of the facility, had admitted carrying out the attack, local media said.
The suspect was quoted by police as saying “I want to get rid of the disabled from this world,” the newspaper Asahi Shimbun reported. Other outlets including the New York Times have quoted him as saying disabled people should “disappear”.
That's messed up
Jesus it seems like there's been so many mass attacks lately. Who the hell would attack a disabled person, someone that can't fight back. So disgusting
Japan is the last place i'd expect something like this to happen
what the fuck
Knives can be deadly in the right circumstances if you're in a group or in a position where you can't be taken out easily, like in this case. Truly disgusting.
Media hypes up mass killers. So there is always bound to be copycats.
Number of mass casualty attacks on the SH front page today: 6
Dear 2016, can we have a mulligan? Signed, everyone.
Just minutes ago I found out that a friend of mine's mother has terminal brain cancer and mere weeks left to live, and his dad died this year from sudden incurable medical problems.
What is with this year and things seeming to go crazy? Trump, Brexit, Turkey, Rio, Florida's nightclubs keep getting shot up... jfc.
Article says he's a former employee

When it comes to murder in Japan it always seems to be a worker who goes postal.
Apparently he turned himself in at a police station and his motive was "I wanted to get rid of the disabled"
what the ACTUAL fuck is wrong with this person.
Christ..
Maybe we should focus more on the details of these tragedies instead of saying "2016 is shitty" over and over again.

from a purely PURELY utilitarian point of view i can understand why
but seriously why
He must be really really bad at Katawa shoujo

Wonder if this would just go unmentioned in the news had it not been for recent events.

That is fuckin' chilling.
What the fuck is going on this week?

Well these incidents are shitty regardless.

you have a poor understanding of utilitarianism
from a purely PURELY utilitarian point of view i can understand why

Utilitarianism is often related to the well-being of as many people as possible. Like, as much happiness (and productivity?) as possible. Someone may clarify.
But I guess you could find different point of views too. Usually in nature a disability means death, and in society we could deem abnormalities as something "unnatural" or undesirable and yeah. I think that's eugenics.

It's almost like there are violent people all over the world....
That is fuckin' chilling.
reminds me of that weird Vice report in Japan where a girl said something like "I wish all couples would die"
This guy is a psychopath. To show that much apathy towards people who are weaker than you is just plain disgusting.

History time!
The country was in a constant state of civil war with all sorts of monarch shenanigans, we all know about that.
Towards the end of WW2 and for a few years after, a hospital director let roughly 100 babies die from neglect.
From 1971 to 1972 a group of 29 commies lost 14 members over the course of a year because they were constantly lynching members who weren't "sufficiently revolutionary"
In 1982 a crazed pilot crashed his plane and survived, but 24 passengers died. For a single incident this has the highest number of deaths until this knife attack.
And here's the nastiest- a group of cultists bought a large property in remote Western Australia and manufactured Sarin gas there, using sheep as tests. 9-11 hadn't happened yet so I guess it would have been possible back then to smuggle a fucking nerve agent into a country. In 1994 they released gas near the houses of some judges with 8 deaths and 200 injuries. Then 9 months later they did in a subway and roughly a 1000 people got eye damage in addition to 12 deaths.
In 2001 a building fire killed 44 but no one has been charged and no one has owned up, arson suspected regardless.
And in 2016, a nutjob kills several disabled people with a knife.
Japan has it's share of insanity and terrorism too but it's mostly domestic. Either cults or as Mabus said, overworked employees who just snap.

Thanks for the copy-paste of the wikipedia page on Japanese Terrorism.

Is it a problem? This news article got me interested so I read up on Japan's history of mass murder and those were the highlights.
Why is it that whenever there is a crime in Japan, it's always extremely brutal?

Media doesn't really care about the other stuff
