Just moved to south Minneapolis up from central Texas. Got a job. The $25 tickets on First Ave are fucking awesome - planning to see the Dr. Dog and PHOX show in February. Way better than driving an hour and a half through Austin traffic to see a show for twice that much.

Out of curiosity do people in America truly believe they're number one? I mean in many regards you probably are, but in a hell of a lot you're not, and I feel like such a mentality prevents you from becoming better.
The same applies on a personal level too, of course.
If you think you're perfect and without flaws you stagnate as a person and never become a better human being as a result.

For the most part, we largely don't even think about it. When something comes up that stirs our patriotism we, like most everyone else in other countries, get swept up in it and get the whole "We're #1" thing going. Other than that? We have our problems, the same as every other country does. We know it, you know it, everyone else knows it. No place is best, some places are just not the best better.

Most people in the US think we've won every single war we've fought.
And we've only fought the Revolution, the Civil War, WWII and Vietnam. Everyone a single victory :v:

The only example I can think of of California having more freedom than the rest of the Great States is the ability to lane split on a motorcycle. Illegal in 49 states. That's about it though.

Can't forget the Korean War and a little bit of World War I. I think most Americans just assume the country will rise to the occasion if an actual crisis were to occur, so the rest of the world's events either end up in the tabloids or fade into the background noise. Most of the people I know only hear about the Ukrainian crisis because I tell them about it, for example.
