These wines date back to the pre-Phylloxera days of winemaking in Europe, it would be fascinating to see how the wines back then were.
I'm very surprised the sugars / any leftover yeast didn't cause refermentation.
Edit : I guess the temperature probably acted as a "cold crash" and killed any chance of yeast surviving / being active.

I consumed 4 bottles of red wine together with lots of beer and whiskey during the course of about 5 hours at a party once, then I got lost in my friend's back yard
