Hey everyone, I'm working on an essay for english 102, and need your guys' help to do some research. I'm writing an essay on the gradual change of zombies from slow-moving brutes such as in dawn of the dead and resident evil into "rage zombies", such as in Left 4 Dead and Zombieland, and the reason for the change.
Here is where you come in. I need some people to answer a few questions for a survey I've created, and would really appreciate your participation. If you could fill out these questions, I would be extremely grateful.
1) How old are you?
2) What was your first experience with zombies? (When did you first learn about them?)
3) Have you seen a movie or played a game that featured "slow zombies"? (Think Resident Evil 1-3, Dawn of the Dead)
4) Have you seen a movie or played a game that featured "rage zombies"? (Examples include 28 Days Later, Left 4 Dead, Zombieland, and for the purpose of generality Resident Evils 4-5)
5) In your opinion, which is more frightening, the "slow zombies" or "rage zombies"?
6) What do you find most disturbing about zombies?
If you guys could keep the thread to mainly responses, I would be grateful. Thanks again!

Rage. Slow ones are less of a threat and yeah. Also you can outrun them. IMO zombies should run as fast as they could when they were humans. It's logical.
The whole biting and ripping apart flesh shit.

Hey stupid he said it's about the transition from slow zombies to fast zombies in media.
1) 19
2)Resident Evil 1, I believe.
3) Almost every zombie series uses these kinds, so Resident Evil, the usual suspects here.
4) Earliest game I played with these was Tribe 2's CombatCon mod which had a number of nightmarish zombie variants. Slow kinds, fast ones that would rush at you on all fours (which are basically exactly like the 'rage' ones in this case) and winged ones that show up out of nowhere, grab you off the ground and carry you off to a horrible death. It would rip you to bits in mid air or drop you to your death. Occasionally it'll just grab you, bite you to infect you and then drop you into the nearest crowd of the slow and dumb kind as well.
5) The aforementioned flying ones without a doubt. Nightmares forever. But that's not a choice here, so the speedy rage ones, just because the speed ties in with the thing that makes them scary... That being:
6) Almost every kind of zombie is due to an infection or disease. Barely any physical contact with one and it's over, no room for mistakes.

2) Don't remember my age, but I think my first experience with zombies was in House of the Dead, for Dreamcast
3)House of the Dead
4) Left 4 Dead, and Left 4 Dead 2
5) They're both equally frightening, because with a large, slow zombie, you know that it will slowly get to you and kill you, where as a faster, weaker zombie, you have less time to react.
6) The way it looks.
