This is an undated handout photo issued by the National Trust, via PA on Monday March 10, 2014 of Jock VI, the new kitten who has taken up residence at Sir Winston Churchill's former country home of Chartwell southern England to honour a request made by the ex-prime minister and his family. For his 88th birthday in 1962, Churchill was given a marmalade cat named Jock after one of his private secretaries, Sir John "Jock" Colville, who gave him the pet. The cat was so dear to Churchill that Jock attended many Cabinet meetings. As well as Churchill, his relatives requested that there should always be a marmalade cat named Jock with a white bib and four white socks resident at Chartwell.
LONDON - There is a new kitten at the Winston Churchill estate. The orange-colored cat is there to comply with the late British leader's request that there always be a cat of that colour living at Chartwell, his country home. Churchill also indicated that the cat should have white chest fur, white paws, and be named Jock. The unusual request stems from the affection Churchill felt for a kitten given to him on his 88th birthday by Jock Colville, one of his secretaries. The new kitten was formally known as Malley but has been renamed Jock VI. He was a stray cat taken into the care of an animal welfare group before it was adopted by Chartwell officials. He is described as a "caring, loving" cat. The Churchill home and gardens, which are popular with tourists, are located in the Kent countryside roughly 25 miles (40 kilometres) south of London.
Honoring a great person of history.

someday garfield is gonna end up there.
That's actually really lovely and awesome.
Some people made a documentary about how the cat got there. Really quite touching.
That's actually really lovely and awesome.
I found it quite endearing; it's very respectful of his after-death wishes
I found it quite endearing; it's very respectful of his after-death wishes
I think the guy earned an odd request
That cat.
that cat has no idea how important it is
that cat has no idea how important it is
I think one things cats are good at is self-importance. It's just that this one actually does have something more to it.
I think one things cats are good at is self-importance. It's just that this one actually does have something more to it.
Since the egyptians used to worship cats to a degree, I say they're pretty good at it.
I would have never thought that the man who was portrayed as a bulldog during WWII would be a cat person.
I would have never thought that the man who was portrayed as a bulldog during WWII would be a cat person.
Cats are fucking vicious mate. You ever tried to pet their stomach? Fucking devils.
Cats are fucking vicious mate. You ever tried to pet their stomach? Fucking devils.
Depends on the cat really. I've got 3 cats that love it but then I have one that really hates it.
Was one of his wishes for his trademark handjester to appear in tons of Japanese porn?
Uhm, is that cat's white 'bib' photoshopped? It looks like it abruptly changes from very white to grey. I just woke up so maybe I'm being delirious.
Cats are fucking vicious mate. You ever tried to pet their stomach? Fucking devils.
Basically, if you've just got a cat and/or aren't fully acquainted with its attitude and expect it to just let you do that you're a pillock, and probably deserve it. You have to give your cat time to accept you and if you're a good owner often even the most vicious bastard can end up a lap cat. I have one named Billy that was an abandoned stray for about 6 months, for the longest time even stroking his back caused him to try to bite/claw lightly, now If I sit on the right chair and wait he sits on my lap every evening and lets me stroke him. He still doesn't like being stroked on the stomach though.
Cats are fucking vicious mate. You ever tried to pet their stomach? Also, don't stare too much at a cat. They'll believe you consider them a threat.

No wonder cats always seemed distant or annoyed at me when I thought I was being friendly. I couldn't believe the stomach thing, though. Everyone I know thinks that cats roll over because they want to be pet there like dogs do (and I did too), but it's really the opposite.

Also hi almost username-brother
