The two setbacks drastically cut supplies of gas at Petro-Canada and some Shell stations in the Okanagan, Thompson, Kootenays, the north, and throughout the Prairies.

It can’t be soon enough for some Petro-Canada and Shell gas-station operators, who saw their holding tanks drained dry late last week, with no gas deliveries to fill them again on the immediate horizon. “We ran out on Friday,” an employee at a Petro-Canada station in Kelowna said. “We’ve been told absolutely nothing. We’re operating like a convenience store. It’s very frustrating.” Some gas has leaked its way to a handful of Petro-Canada stations in the Okanagan, stations considered critical locations by Suncor, but not much. “We have gas, we got a delivery on Saturday morning,” an employee at a Petro-Canada station in Penticton said. “We’re fully supplied right now, but we were out for two days.”

A bigger concern than temporary Suncor-related shortages, McTeague said, is a projected price rise this summer, not because of Alberta forest fires or problems at Suncor’s Edmonton refinery, but because a pair of refineries in the U.S. Midwest are out of commission, while there is record demand for gas in the U.S. South. “If you’re lucky, the price rise will be four cents a litre,” the Toronto-based analyst said. “I think it’s more likely it will be eight to 10 cents a litre.”
**SOURCE** When a station in Kelowna ran out last thursday people began lining up for whatever gas was left in the other stations. There's three Petro Canada stations here in town that are empty and presumably the big truck station at the top of the hill is probably rationing if they have not already run out. The one at the bottom of my hill isn't empty yet but there's a lot more people filling up there. There's at least another two stations in Merritt that are empty so once that city runs dry there's gonna be almost 220km of mountains with no gas stations. I doubt they'll let it get that bad.
Obligatory "what's the deal they can just ride moose everywhere" joke.
welp, say goodbye to justin trundeu if this isn't resolved quickly. See Jimmy Carter.
Even the oil & gas capital of our nation is running into shortages.. How ironic
welp, say goodbye to justin trundeu if this isn't resolved quickly. See Jimmy Carter.
Trudeau already is pretty much universally hated in western Canada anyway. I'm pretty much a centrist and even I hate him.
welp, say goodbye to justin trundeu if this isn't resolved quickly. See Jimmy Carter.
Hold your bricks there, it has absolutely nothing to do with the government. This is actually a case for free market totally fucking up.
Calling petrol / gasoline as just gas makes it sound like I could fart in a bottle and send it over to Canada to help quell the 'gas' shortage.
Calling petrol / gasoline as just gas makes it sound like I could fart in a bottle and send it over to Canada to help quell the 'gas' shortage.
This is how cultures and dialects work. Some cultures or dialects call gasoline gas. This has been a lesson in language. On topic: Wasn't it not too long ago that there was a gas scare, good job canadians for expediting it :v:
Even the oil & gas capital of our nation is running into shortages.. How ironic
No? It's only Petro-Canada that's running out of fuel.
No? It's only Petro-Canada that's running out of fuel.
In any smaller town the runoff of customers could lead to a town-wide shortage, and I bet some people will panic and try to stockpile.
Trudeau already is pretty much universally hated in western Canada anyway. I'm pretty much a centrist and even I hate him.
Not really, the Liberals are winning or tied in the west apart from Alberta.
welp, say goodbye to justin trundeu if this isn't resolved quickly. See Jimmy Carter.
Because a refinery owned by Suncor (a private company) broke down? Why do people hate Trudeau so much? Until now I was under the impression he was pretty well liked.
Why do people hate Trudeau so much? Until now I was under the impression he was pretty well liked.
It's the opposition. It's literally their job to hate anyone who doesn't support their party. They just keep trying to get by with shallow attacks. Saying Trudeau is toast because of a refinery shutting down. What the hell is that?? It's not like he has to press a button every four minutes or the plant breaks down.
Why do people hate Trudeau so much? Until now I was under the impression he was pretty well liked.
Depends who you ask, on the plus side he has a G R E A T hairstyle, on the minsus side, everything else. The assisted suicide bill STILL isn't passed, weed somehow still isn't legal, TPP is still going to get passed, etc.
Depends who you ask, on the plus side he has a G R E A T hairstyle, on the minsus side, everything else. Considering they have a has a majority government, pretty quickly. Trudeau can do whatever he wants, and he'd rather change pronouns in the national anthem than do all the shit he promised to do in his platform. "Hey Canada, we're gonna pass assisted suicide legiationslation" *later* "But first, we have to make sure 'our sons' doesn't trigger anyone, because of course that would be unacceptable :P"
Why do people hate Trudeau so much? Until now I was under the impression he was pretty well liked.
Because it's the in thing to hate social justice types and someone who's more concerned with that shit than the economy is the last thing Canada needs right now
Imagine voting for the liberal party of Canada, giving them a majority government and a year later they're all too busy marching in gay pride parades to actually pass their own platform. It's a rough life for any Canadian who isn't retarded.
Why do people hate Trudeau so much? Until now I was under the impression he was pretty well liked.
They don't hate him. The liberal's approval rating is higher than it was right after the election.
They don't hate him. The liberal's approval rating is higher than it was right after the election.
I don't understand how anyone can not hate them. I'm at the point where I actually want Harper back. [editline]10th June 2016[/editline] Sure the Liberals are great if you're transgender or a Syrian refugee. Not so great if you're everyone else.

[editline]10th June 2016[/editline] Sure the Liberals are great if you're transgender or a Syrian refugee. Not so great if you're everyone else.
This is idiotic to me. [editline]10th June 2016[/editline] The liberals have ruined my life as neither of those things? No they haven't
I get the sense that the people who hate Trudeau here don't exactly know how a parliament works or how long it takes for major legislation to get sorted out. Also as pointed out, this has nothing to do with the government, oil refineries are run these days at maximum capacity and when something breaks they let it fuck with prices because the commodity traders can turn a quick profit that way. Oil refineries are also incredibly expensive to build and operate so it's not like you can just open more of them up when demand rises. Just to get a single column online can take three months and a single refinery can take six months to startup if they had to shut down unexpectedly. These things just aren't made to be flexible
Why do people hate Trudeau so much? Until now I was under the impression he was pretty well liked.
I don't really have a strong opinion on Trudeau either way (I voted for Tom) but you'll notice it's the same two guys that keep ragging on him in the thread.
Depends who you ask, on the plus side he has a G R E A T hairstyle, on the minsus side, everything else. If you've been actually paying attention, you'd actually see the progress being made on these promises. Especially the progress on weed legalization as it was a pretty popular topic last month or so.
