Rules & Resources For The Musician's Gig Room [Read First Post]

There are a few rules that you need to abide when posting in the musician's gig room, the general rules for the forum apply, and a few set rules for the subforum itself.
1: All music you post MUST be yours, unless stated otherwise. You're also using the right licenses, so no wrongly using samples, credit where credit is due.
2: Keep the criticism constructive, no "this is shit", explain why you think it is shit, and how to improve.
3: Encourage and be helpful! Nobody is going to produce hits right away, so don't put people down just because they might make music that might not be within your taste.
4: Put effort, and take pride in your own work. It is your music, you obviously like it enough to post it on the internet for strangers to listen.
5: Don't be a dickbag. Seriously.
6: When you post music, give constructive criticism aswell! People aren't going to bother helping you if you're not helping anyone else.
Not sure how to criticize? Read this guide on how to by forum user k00lwhip on how to! (Guide is written in regards to drawing, the same rules apply however.
Post your current WIPs(Work In Progress) in the Thread for WIPs instead of making a new thread for it, new threads are meant specifically for tracks that are finished, or for an album you've made.
Want to chat with the other fine people of this section? Got a question about anything? Use this thread.
Are you a DJ and want to chat about DJ-related things? This is the thread for you!.
We also have a general thread for Rap&Hip-Hop beats, just a click away. Here you can discuss and share beats you've made, or ask for permission to use those linked (contact the one who made the beat before you use it!).
Below are a few useful links.
Resources for the Bedroom Producer (lots of vsts etc, most free, some don't.)
This post is subject to change.
6. When posting in the Creative Music in Progress thread don't just post your track and bail. Instead, help a brotha out and leave feedback on the track(s) posted before yours.

I actually thought about adding this rule, I don't think enforcing that (especially when there are never gonna be any repercussions for not doing so) is going to help, I believe such a rule is going to have to be unwritten, people are going to notice that if you never help anyone else, they're not going to get any.
Check out Killerteacup's resource collection thread for a lot of free samples and vst synths
I was thinking we could have resources (useful links etc) here as well, that I can add to the OP. People are also free to post their own guides to things, such as mixing, mastering, arranging etc.

Solid stuff there CLungcancer, thanks!
Maybe some guidelines about where to post and about thread creation? Like don't create new threads for WIP's because they belong in Creative music in progress

Well, as long as these rules are 'unofficial' pretty much none of them will have any repercussions other than people being rated dumb or people complaining about no one giving feedback.
You might as well list it, with the hope that people actually read these rules/guidelines.
A very valid point, I'll get to updating the OP tomorrow with some added stuff to really flesh it out, feel free to come with other suggestions people of this subforum, and I'll get in touch with a moderator so that this can get stickied.
What other things would you all like to be added?

Try to get this stickied or talk to a moderator about changing the rules for musicians' gig room.Have it as a general directory for useful threads. Creative music in progress for music, resource collection for vsts, maybe we should start a question and answer tutorial thread as well, or incorporate that into resource collection if we have useful links. Off topic discussion as well.
I'll do that. :)
