This is not my video, but I very much recommend this reviewer for people that haven't heard of him. Also this game is fucking weird.
Yeah i agree with pretty much everything he said. It's okay at best but there's really no point in playing it over the first or second encounter. I remember even being hyped for the game before its release.
Serious Sam 2 crashes on my PC [sp]every other serious sam in existence does not[/sp] Just goes to show the quality.
imho the artstyle is so bad SS1 actually looks better, ESPECIALLY the HD edition the grenade feature doesn't fit at all and it just kind of happens with no animation, teleporting grenades in-front of you.. NETRICSA talking is the stupidest crap I have ever seen. also, lives in a game like this, what the fuck happened with that decision? [editline]6th September 2014[/editline] SS1 and 3 were easy to just... LOVE the hell out of. I can't find myself getting into ss2 even when I try to
I really like this review. It reminds me of early G4tv reviews. Looking back on SS2, I still don't know what to think about it. I enjoyed playing it when I was younger, but even then I knew it was odd compared to the original games.
The artstyle/theme is the reason I can't bring myself to finish this game. It just feels so stupid and it doesn't match with what is going on.

"You found: SECRET SEXY BUSH!!!"

The only Serious Sam game I have is Next Encounter for PS2. It's like some weird combination of 1 & 2, because the style is more cartoony than 1 but doesn't go as silly as 2. The gameplay is like 1 but with the level design of 2 with enemies just appearing from everywhere.
gggman is pretty great. I remember just finding him via youtube's related videos and it was one of my luckiest finds.
I loved the Serious Sam games, but I cringe when I hear this title. It's a total clownfest and doesn't fit in with the other games at all. IMO it makes the rest of the series look like something it really isn't.
I enjoy the Serious Sam games, but Serious Sam 2 just feels like a completely different game. I still have the classic versions on the CD sitting on my desk.
I hated Serious Sam 2 then and I still hate it now. Worst installment in the main franchise imho.
I remember how much bullshit the ending of SS2 was. 0 fucking payoff.

IIRC croteam was forced to create a more "kid friendly" artstyle for SS2 by the publisher
Am I the only one who actually enjoyed it? I was 11 when it came out and I loved the diversity, colorful artstyle and secrets you could find. (Artstyle also felt somewhat refreshing compared to the first two Serious Sam games.) Even played it a few years later now and then.

I am glad I skipped this entirely and went from Second Encounter to Sam 3
I am glad I skipped this entirely and went from Second Encounter to Sam 3
I think Croteam did the same. I'm pretty sure they ignore the fact SS2 even exists. :v:
i actually enjoyed SS2, the pothead artwork didn't bothered me that much but it was back in (2006, can't remember if my old pc ran it) 2008-2009 since i have it on steam, i would gladly play it all again
I think Croteam did the same. I'm pretty sure they ignore the fact SS2 even exists. :v:
They can pretty much call TSE "Serious Sam 2" and they'd be fine.
I remember how much bullshit the ending of SS2 was. 0 fucking payoff.
Croteam was forced to rush the game out by their publisher, 2K Games. This is why the current boss, the Mental Institution pyramid thing, is missing completely in the Xbox port as that had to be shipped before the PC version. Originally, SS2 was going go feature twin Ugh-Zans in the final level. You can still hear both of them scream while playing Mental Institution. In addition, Croteam cut out weapons, dual wielding, vehicles, most ragdoll physics, a number of powerups such as Serious Disco, the entire desert planet of Pechina, all of the Capture the Flag multiplayer game mode, and a whole lot more. Also, having to release the game on the Xbox meant restricting the game to far fewer enemies on-screen overall compared to its predecessors. However, SS2's greatest fault is undisputed: not enough Gnaars.
The graphics were pretty good for an old game.

SS2 was actually my first Serious Sam game, I remember getting it for free with a graphics card back in 2007 or so. I actually really liked it back then. That being said I was only 14 years old. I should replay it sometime to see if it still holds up now that I've played all the others.
The graphics were pretty good for an old game.
I love it when people pick newer games with 2005 tier graphics to compare it to year 2005 games, as if that somehow compares [t]http://blog.toggle.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/gears-of-war-3-best-pc-game-1024x576.jpg[/t][t]http://gamingbolt.com/wp-content/gallery/evolution-of-graphics-in-gaming/8-batman-arkham-city.jpg[/t][t]http://images.bit-tech.net/content_images/2011/11/la-noire-pc-review/la-noire-2.jpg[/t]

I remember it getting patched in some time after release It still boils down to 2K. If I'm not mistaken they went with Gathering of Developers before it shut down
I really love BFE. That was a game I was hyped for.
I really love BFE. That was a game I was hyped for.
The only thing I disliked about BFE, were those damn underground levels with the space monkeys.
