I guess the media's just willing to report anything implicating the GTA series for crime given the whole blitz around GTA V.
Wow what a mentally ill man.
Meanwhile millions of people play GTA and live their normal lives.
But this is obviously GTA's fault.
What i want to know is if the guy even owns any GTA games, because basing it off of what hes saying it seems like he doesnt.
now he's going to have to rebuy all his weapons when he gets out
ban video games

I know, he didn't kill nearly as many hookers compared to the average player.
Wanna know how to really play the game?! Play the damn game!
Man performs crime, blames GTA and suceeds in pulling everyone away from what matters.
Has happened before and will keep doing so because people know the media lick this shit up.
Rockstar's guerrilla marketing has gone too far
Not certain if its me or the forum, but when I try to edit my post all the content gets cleared. Here is working link for anyone interested in the article.

Just making an observation, all of the comments saying "oh ya sure, video games did it lOL /s" sound really desperate in this situation. The game is reaching a huge audience, and some of those 2 odd million copies end up in the hands of people like this guy.. not a lot, but some. And since the audience is so huge, we really need to discuss things rather than attack each other through sarcasm. If you really think it has no effect than you need to defend it logically.
Note: I haven't played gta5, but I played gta2 a good amount, and also almost completed gtaiv(actually I think I finished it)
GTA games are great because of the dizzying sense of freedom they give you, the sense of a living, breathing world that you feel is completely touchable; your actions have immediate reactions. I think the killing etc gets old? After you see the rag dolled bodies fling back so many time you go, alright what else is there. And it seems like they've added a lot of other stuff to do in gta5, but they're like "tennis, skydiving, etc", aka simulated real world activities which are much more fun in real life. Also, in many ways it assumes that if it gives you all this freedom, that you want to be evil. The game is designed around this assumption, that human nature, given simulated freedom without real world repercussion likes to murder, kill, and do all these things. Is that messed up (not rhetorical)?
If doing evil within the world is the fun part of gta, then why do we feel excited doing things like that in the game? I saw a thread here in the video section, didn't watch the video but it was someone playing gta5, and the comments kept reprimanding the guy doing a roberry and killing the clerk. They said he shouldn't have killed the guy. So there does seem to be guilt, but I think it wears away, and you get used to doing it. Or maybe people who feel guilty go on being "good" even though the world persuades you to be bad.
Ya, I don't really have a point though sorry :-/, just thinking out loud, I haven't made up my mind either way, would be interested in what other people think.
You can honestly blame GTA for virtually everything nowadays...it's the holy grail of video gaming scapegoats for the news media to devour and blame the world on.
He also kidnapped a woman. Jesus, what the fuck was his
